Article about Beasley's reluctance for the spotlight.

College freshman are usually still immature, but once they get into their sophomore junior years is when they really mature. I hope Beasley can mature soon, for his, and possibly our sake.
BTW, just look at that comparison chart (between Beasley and Durant) in the article, specifically the rebounding numbers. It emphasizes exactly what I was talking about earlier regarding Beasley and his rebounding numbers.
Let me reiterate...
Durant was the only player on Texas taller than 6'7 getting significant minutes, thus he was the tallest player on his team on the court for the majority of the time. When you're the tallest player on your team that plays a significant amount of minutes, you SHOULD be getting the most rebounds.
Look at Durant now, he's grabbing 4.2 boards a game. Obviously its only his rookie season and his rebounding numbers will go up (sitting at 6-8 in his prime), but what I'm trying to say is you guys need to look past these gaudy rebounding numbers Beasley is putting up because it isn't likely to translate to the NBA.
The only case anyone on here seems to make for Beasley being the #1 overall pick (which was widely regarded to be our pick until we picked it up recently) was the monstrous double-doubles he was putting up. I'm impressed by Beasley's point total but not his rebounding total. He is nothing special in terms of being a rebounder. He just benefits from being the guy who has to stay near the glass on defense because he is his team's best opportunity at getting defensive rebounds. I'm being picky here but I got laughed at for formulating what was a solid argument.
I have no problem with drafting Beasley to be a 4. I think we'd run into trouble if we try to draft Beasley to be a 3. Al at the 5 seems to work OK even with it not being his natural position. I've lightened up to the idea of Foye and Telfair being our main PGs.
A future lineup of:
Jefferson
Beasley
Brewer
McCants
Foye
Would be nice, but I like:
FA/Draft
Jefferson
Brewer
Foye/McCants
Rose
A lot better.
Brewer cannot create shots for himself. I don't believe Foye can do it for him either. Rose can create shots for Brewer and the center, and we still have two guys who can create shots for themselves (Jefferson and McCants). Rose can get his own shot as well. I see Beasley being somewhat of a defensive liability in the pros, regardless of his position. He's like Amare Stoudemire during his first two years. Excellent on offense, mediocre to bad on defense.
