But players can only be waived on working days. Which means that the deadline is Friday, 10PM ET.

What I meant is, that we would see how hard Sterling is with David Falk when Brand will think about opting out.

Sterling and Falk have been working with each other for some time now. I can remember Falk gave the Clippers a one day negotiating period for extending Mo Taylor to a max contract on July 1 the day he became an unrestricted FA. LOL.

Each situation is different, I don't see a carryover in how Cassell is handled with what will happen in negotiations with EB.

That's who it was.. I remember Faulk's name from the past, but I couldn't remember the player who had him as an agent. I think this may effect things with Elton a bit in the future, but at the same time he does have his own mind, and knows whats best for him. If the buyout doesn't go through then it will be Faulk that has problems with the organization, and not Elton. Elton will get his money no matter what if plans to stay. That's a no brainer.

It will all end peacefully. It is just a matter of both sides agreeing on the buyout amount.

After finding out he has the same agent as Brand, it's for the best that his desires were met and that he and the team separate in an amicable manner. I wish Sam the best and hope he has fun in the playoffs. I'll be rooting for him.

The big problem to this (and why I predicted the buyout 8) ) is realistically assessing his trade value, and the cap situation of potential suitors.

He's not just a 'rent-a-player', but is somewhat close. No one is considering him a full-time starter (because of his age), but he can definitely offer playoff teams a great backup and clutch fourth quarter play.

But because his value is mainly to playoff teams, these teams are all over the cap and would have to send some salary back (otherwise we could at least get say a second round pick.) Chances are it's going to be a bad or marginal contract at best of a bench player that we'd simply prefer not taking on at all, or an expiring contract of an even worse player. In that case a buyout is easier for everyone, and cheaper for Donald.

Thanks for all that you've done for us Sam. It's really appreciated.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Cassell, 38, agreed to forfeit about half of the $1.7 million remaining on his $6.1 million contract, which amounts to about $850,000.

LA Times

Although he only intends to play one more season, Cassell said it is not impossible that his career would end in a Clippers uniform.

"I'd love to come back here next year, if everyone is healthy," Cassell said. "Why not? I left on good terms."
