Is the Warriors' PG-SG-SF trio the best in the league?

Post#1 » by Conflict » Thu Feb 28, 2008 3:35 am

All of them average more then 19 points a game, more then a steal a game(Baron avgs. 2.5) and all of them rebound over 4 rebounds each. Baron and Jackson are both great man-to-man defenders and Monta is a great help defender. At any given night 2 of the 3 can have a 30+ point night TOGETHER. Jackson and Baron are great post up guards at their positions while Monta and Baron are top 10 at penetrating the lane and finishing in the NBA. While they do have their negatives (Baron and Jackson's three point chucking), they are all great late in games at that aspect. All three of the players are CLUTCH.

In my opinion this trio is the best PG-SG-SF in the league right now. I just want some other opinions.

Before the Kidd trade, Kidd-Carter-Jefferson?

I'm not sure if they're the best, but they are great, just can't think of any others at the moment.

Well before the Kidd trade they were in my mind too, but overall I still thought the Warriors had the better trio. They are more clutch in my mind and I think they play a little better on D, plus none of them are as soft as Carter. Warriors were also less injury-prone too as all three of the Nets has injury problems in the past (yes I know Baron is injury prone too) but Jackson and Ellis barely get injured as much as Carter or Jefferson

Other potential competitors:

Lakers: Farmar-Kobe-Odom
Denver: Iverson-Smith-Anthony
Atlanta: Bibby-Johnson-Marvin

Any more?

Parker, Ginobli, Bowen come to mind for me too, but Bowen is an offensive liability at times but they all play great D.

All 3 could very well average over 20 ppg by the end of the season. Baron's at 22ish, Stack Jack is 20-21...Monta is only at 19 but he's scored 20
+ in 15 out of the last 20 games, and has only scored under 20 once this month when he had 18. When's the last time that happened?

kidd, carter and jefferson are a joke of a trio, they play in the east yet struggle to win games

Its nice that they all score around 20 ppg, but being in a up and down system like Golden State that relies on guard scoring, that is to be expected. I'm not sold on Monta's D, and the efficiency of Baron and Captain Jack (shooting %/ TO's) if you want to say the absolute best. Its a great tandem though.

Golden State has one of the weakest front courts in the NBA though. It balances their great backcourt, I suppose.

I know it's lacking in star power, but just in terms of wins and losses, you have to consider both Paul - Mo Pete - Peja and D. Williams - Korver - Kirilenko for this list.

Monta Ellis is not better than Rip Hamilton.
