76ers to Allow Gordan Giricek Join Suns

Post#1 » by Mr. Sun » Thu Feb 28, 2008 9:19 am

Gordan Giricek, who has seen scant playing time since being acquired by the 76ers for Kyle Korver on Dec. 29, has been given permission to seek a deal - with a few provisions.

An NBA source said yesterday the Sixers would be willing to allow Giricek to leave if he can join a team that has a chance to make the Western Conference playoffs.

The Sixers don't want Giricek playing for an Eastern Conference team.

The source said that a few Western Conference teams have made inquiries, with Phoenix showing the most interest.

"I am flattered that a team like Phoenix is showing interest in my services," Giricek said before last night's game against Orlando at the Wachovia Center.

I want Barry...all this dicking around is clearly so the NBA doesn't think anything Stackhouse-like is going on...Barry's smart, he knows where he's going...Giricek is an ok backup though to be honest

I suppose we have a decent shot at getting Barry, BUT Gordon will be a good fall back player if he decides to return to SA.

He would be perfect of what we need. A 2/3 who can come off the bench, shoot some three, play some decent defense, and just play basketball. Now I haven't seen much of him this season but he definitely would help solidify our hole in the 2/3. If we fail to get Barry, which is very likely, we should definitely go after Giri.

Bleh. The fact that most of his highlights are tres is good, I guess.

If you look at Gira's career it's apparent to me that Jerry Sloan sucked some of the life out of it. He was a pretty good player before arriving in Utah. He wouldn't be the first guy that Sloan didn't like.

PLEEZE sign Giri - he's exactly the kind of player Laker fans want you to have!

Why the Laker trolls are coming out in droves is beyond me. They should have plenty to talk about on their own board. It's kindof pathetic actually.

Barry is a difference maker since he can play PG in the same backcourt lineup with Barbosa. Barbosa can guard PGs while Barry defends SGs.

Giricek is a decent upgrade to Piatkowski though if Barry can't be obtained.

If Barry drags this thing out past the March 1st date, does signing Giricek at that point make him eligible for the playoffs?

NASA can circumnavigate Saturn and Pluto faster than this...

I bet he's in the Spurs locker room with Pop, laughing it up, giggling at how brilliant they are

Barry will not drag it out...since the Suns are asking him for an answer today. That way they have a couple days to decide if they want to bring anyone else it.

yeah, some of these laker fans are pathetic. since our mods are waiving our peeps, maybe they need to drop a warning to two on this knuckle heads (ie Charles Barkley)

Barry is my first option. Giri would be fine if we can

We don't need to warn anyone, and it's not me waiving them! haha

Guys...if LAL had a rough stretch like we are, I have no doubt we'd be giving it to them. As long as it's some general grief giving there's no harm no foul. When it starts getting annoying and continuous, that's when we'll step in and say something. Until then, keep smiling because it wasn't too long ago we were laughing at the Lakers wallowing at .500 ball for those post-Shaq years. Man up :)

Eh? Giricek is an excellent role player. Sure, he's not as good as Barry, but I wouldn't want one of the other contenders to get a guy like Gordan.

I think he's a really good option if Barry decides to stick with the Spurs.

What does that even mean? Is there some sort of innuendo that I am not getting? I see you're from Hollywood, that's not West Hollywood is it?

Maybe, we should look into adding a "rainbow" emoticon, so you can express yourself properly. It's funny too, all the homosexuals I know are well educated and have good taste; two things that are not synonymus with being a Laker fan!

You have to understand that Laker regs aren't typically the ones responsible. It's the kids that live on the general board posting Kobe is GOD!!!11111 etc. I actually liked it a little more without the bandwagoners that come with success.
