Whatever position they draft, I hope they get an athlete who is a good worker, plays with energy and has good hands.

thats exactly what makes Hansbrough I think an excellent fit for the magic. He's the definition of a hardworker, plays with TONS of energy, and he has pretty good hands. Ever since his freshman year he's been working on a jumper and he's been decent at it. I can see hansbrough come in and put up 9/6 a game, maybe more, immediately on the magic. His biggest knock on him is his size, but everyone knows one of the biggest factors in rebounding is how hard you try for them, and he certainly does. He's ranked low because he's a junior and most of the kids ahead him are freshman/sophomores/euros who are all younger. I think he'd be a steal.

If we draft a Big, it has to be Devon Hardin (If available)

Has David Twardzik been the guy drafting all these years....if so fire him

He scouts, and he's our primary scout over in Europe I believe. He has a lot of input, but the decision isn't his, it's always the GMs. But Dave can be held largely responsible for the Fran fiasco (though most of that is actually on Fran's agent).

Try and trade up if we can AND pick the best option if a desired PF isnt available [or C for that matter].

IF NOT

Just pick the best available.

None of this cash trash!

We seem to think alike. I personally think Hansborough would be great next to Dwight. His energy would be a huge asset. For those poo-pooing the idea, keep in mind that that Udonis Haslem is also undersized and lacks athleticism, yet he averages a double-double. We dont need another franchise player, we just need a legitimate starter at PF....and SG and PG for that matter.

If the Magic sign Vazquez, I'd be shocked if GM Smith kept this pick.

Several options of the pick is moved:
1) Trade this year's first for another team's future first.
2) Package the Pick with Bogans for an upgrade off of the bench.
3) Package the Pick with Bogans and Turkoglu for a new starter at PF.

If kept:
1) The Magic should look for the next Ginobili-type (a baller who won't come stateside: Alexis Ajinca as a PF project might be this year's look.
2) Go for the project: Clearly Serge Ibaka will get looks.
3) Draft BPA hoping to trade him as above.

Do you guys know how much garbage Hansborough is...He will struggle to become a back up in this league.

Way too undersized, too weak, cant jump, no shot, plus he travels ALL the time.

He would dif. be a another draft bust for the Magic.

so hard to say...i'd say trade to move up higher to get a quality big man, or package the pick in a s&t and land a quality player that's not a SF. try and get a 2nd rounder in return, to draft Roby :)

I respectfully disagree, but thats my opinion. The thing is we arent going to find a star at our pick, so why not draft for our biggest need which is size and energy up front (since there wont be a PG that late in the draft) . Again, I bring up Haslem because he was viewed similarly when leaving Florida...undersized, not athletic, and no reliable offensive game. The guy went undrafted and look at what he's become. There's something to be said for hard work, heart, and hustle and thats what I think Hansborough could bring to the table for us. Sure the guy may never average 20pts and 10rpg, but he could come in and fill a role next to Dwight, and I suspect he could average 8-10ppg along with 6-7rpg on a fairly consistent basis. Anyways, just thinking out loud...the guy from USF looks good also!

Haslem would still be in Europe if he did not add that deadeye mid range jumper. Hansbrough can be a nice NBA player if he adds a jumper, if he does not, he will be just another Sean May type big who used his strength to score in college. Hansbrough is a bit like the JJ Redick of big men. The draft is not about taking the best player, it is about the best NBA prospects. For the record I think we could find a star where we pick, maybe not a superstar, but IMO guys like Weaver, Collison, DJ White, and Shan Foster all would be very productive NBA players.

Not draft Kevin Love! Chuck and Bogans need to go. I've seen one mock with us taking Wayne Ellington, defensive SG. we need to keep Mo and go with a rotation of JJ and Wayne backing up Mo. I'd try to trade Chuck or Bogans for a 2nd rd pick and take Hansbrough in the 2nd rd. sign a pg in FA with MLE.

Nelson/Dooling/FA
Mo/JJ/Ellington
Hedo/Cook/Auggie
Lewis/Battie/Hansbourgh
Dwight/Foyle/Gortat

Yeah, I'm not really getting all the Hansborough hate...the guys a pretty solid player. I'm pretty sure if he was African American there would be much less of it. :jawdrop:

If we dont have a top 15 pick (which we shouldn't). We have to trade up or trade it away. Theres no "quick fix" that we can draft. Ive pretty much given up on what Otis plans to do.. Im just going to sit back and watch for now...

Lee has always been considered vastly more athletic than Hansbrough. I like Hansbrough ok, but he has limited upside and is more of a college player than an NBA prospect. Think Christian Laettner or Sean May.

One guy to consider in the late 2nd round is Brian Butch. He can bang and has an outside touch. Draft this guy, two years in the D-league, and bang, the Magic have a 3rd stringer in 2010!
