Has Chris Paul surpassed Steve Nash yet?

Post#1 » by That Nicka » Thu Feb 28, 2008 4:04 am

Paul: 20.7, 10.7, 2.7, 48%, 34%, 2.6 TO, 37.5 min

Nash: 17.6, 11.5, 0.7, 51%, 47%, 3.9 TO, 34.6 min

Current Team records:
Hornets: 38-18
Suns: 39-19

Nash is still more efficient in terms of FG%, and averages more assists in less minutes but Chris Paul averages more points and less turnovers and is a MUCH better defender... Has Chris Paul surpassed Steve Nash as the best PG in the game?

IMO he has.

The only thing he has to do now is prove it to everyone in the playoffs.

Neither have done much (or anything) in the playoffs, especially with the talent around them. (Nash)

 Who do you think is the best PG in the game then, Batronuj?

I think Paul is definetely playing the best of any PG this season, but it takes more than one season to take the "best" mantle. James it outplaying Bryant this year, but he Bryant is still the "better" player, if that makes sense. You need a larger sample size to declare someone has passed someone else.

I just want to say, to all the Jazz fans who said that Deron was better, and me and NO-KG-AI told them that once Paul got healthy, he would do really well.

Told you so.

Yup, I try to put that into words too, but I really can't. and to Batronuj, apparently Deron is the only PG who has ever proved anything ever.

Chris Paul is the best PG in the league this season, PHX - Nash > NO - Paul, significantly I'd say, but NO is winning at a very similar pace, in fact, if you look at NO roster, you don't see a top team in the west, Peja and West are solid, but not exactly the top of their positions, Chandler is great defensively, but wasn't much on offense until he was introduced to Paul, and they are playing fillers on the SG spot, with a shaky bench.

I believe Nash, Paul, and deron are on the same level, its the type supporting cast whats make you wonder if its makes difference or not, for example deron is not surrounded by shooters or athletic players like peja and tayson, and paul ,nash They have no Low Post Threat like boozer, this is why its hard know who's better................
but to sums it up:
pure PG skills: Paul,Nash both are on the same level.
overall player:Deron Williams is better than Paul or Nash.

PS:the jazz won 10 straight games after they traded for solid shooter, i guess the type supporting cast does make a difference.

I hate to jump to conclusions based on one season, but yes I do think Paul has surpassed Nash as the best point guard in the game.

In 4 games against Phoenix this year, Chris Paul's averages:

29ppg
11apg
4.5rpg
4.0spg

(Hornets 4-0)

I'd say he has. Nash is more efficient, but Paul seems to be a more dynamic, take over game scorer. I think he's doing it with a lot less as well (I like West and Chandler, but they aren't Marion and Amare).

i understand wat ur saying and i agree completely with everything u said except... james is outplaying bryant?? maybe offensively but bryant has been the mvp of the season so far imo.

as for cp3 vs nash.. i have to say im a big fan of both players. every time i see nash play im impressed but this season chris paul has out played him. i just watched the wizards vs hornets game and was blown away by cp3's scoring ability. nash is a better shooter but cp3 is a more dangerous scorer in the paint. passing skills look about the same although nash's numbers are better but i believe that to be because nash is surrounded by better scorers. cp3 is the best point guard in the league now hands down.. imo

uh, based on what? if you're going to make a statement that defies pretty much every stat imaginable, at least state your case.
