Actually, you can.
Kobe is averaging 29.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists per 40 minutes.
Ginobili is averaging 26.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per 40 minutes.
Almost identical.
Kobe is Kobe, but Ginobili is having a phenomenal season. It is no more a slight to compare the two than it is to compare Kobe with Jordan.
Also, your characterization of Hollinger's article is blatantly false. Nowhere does Hollinger argue, or even mention, the possibility that Ginobili is better than Kobe. He merely uses a comparison between the two as a vehicle to illustrate how criminally underrated Ginobili is.

Besides Kobe, I would say Ginobili and Garnett are the two most competitive players in the league. I didn't read the article, but it's a fair comparison if he's talking about mindset and determination to win. Kobe is undoubtedly a better player, but Ginobili is as close to a good match as there is when it comes to determination and willpower.
Ginobili routinely puts the entire team on his back and will them to a win in the five last minutes of a game. Sounds familiar to me. Popovic says that he has never in his entire career coached a more competitive player than Manu. Pop doesn't BS.

Really?
I did a google search and found these in less than five minutes. I'm sure I could find more.

Sorry, you're going to have to do better than that. Learning how to formulate a complete sentence would be a good start.

Living here in San Antonio, I see Ginobili play a lot more than the average fan. He is an absolutely phenomenal player who gets better every year. Honestly, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a player quite like him. He's an elite scorer, yet he plays with the hustle and scrap of a role player, almost like a cross between Dwyane Wade and, I don't know, Dennis Rodman?
This hot streak he was on lately was amazing (and depressing, to be honest). I think he had two 40-point games while taking less than 20 shots, which is a remarkable accomplishment. I also think I read he was the first player since Shaq and Olajuwon -- two 7-foot centers, it should be noted -- to average more than 30 points over five games while shooting better than 60 percent from the floor.
I'm hoping and praying he cools off, because if he's hitting his jumper he is almost unguardable. Kobe is the better player, of course, but Hollinger's point was pretty clear to me: Ginobili's a lot better than people think.

I don't know why Manu gets so badly underrated by people on realgm. If you watch Manu week in and week out like Sedale and myself, you'd clearly see this is no exaggeration. In no way does anyone think manu is better than Kobe, but seriously the numbers and games Manu single handedly wins for the Spurs makes this comparison very valid. This season especially Manu has been the second best SG in the league behind Kobe and continues to show he's not doing it against bench guys, he's started the past 11 games. Without Parker in the line up, and guess what, the Spurs have won most of their games dropping a badly called game VS Boston as the only loss. Don't be so blind to the facts in front of you. Manu is legit.

Kobe can get those stats in his sleep. Manu is nowhere near Kobe or shouldn't even be in the same sentence as the Laker player who wears number 24.
Didn't want to use Kobe's name in the same sentence.

What can I say? I take immense pride in not being a simple-minded homer. There's already enough of those on RealGM.

Manu is off the hook! I dont think anyone said otherwise. But you cant just casually compare people to one of the greatest to EVER play the game. Manu is a very very good player.
