Not true. There is one loop hole with that rule. If a player is traded and than released. He can wait the 30 days go back to the team he was traded from and be eligible for the playoffs. That's why Jerry Stackhouse wasn't worried about going to New Jersey if he was put in that trade because he knew he would get bought out and get to relax for 30 days before going back to Dallas for the stretch run and the playoffs. In Barry's case he could wait and sign with the Spurs and still be eligible or he has to sign with the Suns by Saturday to be eligible for the playoffs for them.
Either way it is of some concern. He is a smart vet player with championship experince. He plays decent D and can hit the 3 consistantly. Those three things are huge in the playoffs of the bench. If I was Mitch I would attempt to get him just for those things. He is not a high risk and can fit well into the triangle.

You feel the same way I feel about Brent Barry too. I would mos def like him to come to the Lakers. You said it best he has 3 things that would help a lot down the road and with our playoff run. Yeah we already have four shooters, but having five that can shoot around 40 or even above 40 is better. Or if we want to go with Kobe at the three Barry could play the two for us.
