Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Quickness is the biggest attribute that Augustin has. He is very explosive changing speeds and directions. That's the first thing I noticed about him.

You have to put Jonny Flynn name in the hat...

Season Averages
PTS REB AST TO A/T STL BLK PF FG% FT% 3P% PPS
15.3 2.7 5.1 2.7 1.91 1.5 .1 1.5 .440 .790 .325 1.28

Since every one is held up on numbers here you go. He is playing in one of the toughest conferences there is if not the toughest. The Cuse record is 17-11. Arizona is 17-10 since everyone is putting Bayless in, who I like as well.

Flynn (SYR)
Price (UCONN)
ROSE (MEM)
AUGUSTINE (TEX)
Lawson (UNC)

Here is a stat to look at right now A/T Ratio. Price 2.6 to 1. Flynn 1.91 to 1.

Having good to great lateral quickness is different from the quicks needed to penetrate effectively..imo he isnt overly quick, he's maybe a hair quicker than an Acie Law who is having problems penetrating as well

Who said anything about lateral quickness? I am talking about explosion and stop-start ability with the ball in his hands. It's obvious that he has tremendous acceleration ability. I would say that ball penetration is one of his strong suits.

DJ Augustine will have zero problems getting into the lane at the next level. He is on par with Chris Paul as it pertains to quickness.

I think people are sleeping on Nick Calathes at Florida. I am not saying he is the top point guard in this draft, or even a lottery pick at this point, but he has great size and does a little bit of everything well. Seems to have a really high basketball IQ. I think if he stays in school and produces well for a Gator team that should be pretty good next year, that he could be a lottery pick and someone to watch.

He's going to be a flat-out stud if he goes to the right team. I'm not sure if he is Chris Paul good but he has all the tools and his #'s are right on par.

Augustin to the Pacers! That little mock lottery/draft thing at ESPN.com has him going there. I think with that high octane offense he could really thrive. He would certainly get minutes there too. Who would have have to beat out, Travis Diener?

Anyone think there are significant changes in the "guard" rankings going into the madness? And note I an saying "guard" to include the many combos like Mayo/Gordon/Westbrook and probably a few others.

The only big change for me in Mayo is easily top 3.

1. Still stickin with Rose
2-3 is a tie IMO between Bayless and Mayo depending upon team need and drafing

After these guys IMO its really a tossup between guys like Collison, Augustin, Westbrook and maybe a few others.

Other thoughts?

Bayless, Rose, and Mayo are not true point guards in my opinion. That doesn't mean that they can't run a team but if we are talking about true floor generals in this draft then it's these guys in the exact order.

1.Rose
2.Augustin
3.Collison
4.Lawson
5.Sean Singletary
5.Goran Dragic

As Combo Guards (capable of running both point and SG)
1.Mayo
2.Bayless
3.Eric Gordon
4.Lester Hudson
5.Jamont Gordon

Overall Guards
1.Chris Douglas Roberts
2.Chase Budinger
3.Brandon Rush
4.Shan Foster
5.Courtney Lee

Jamont Gordon behind Lester Hudson is a joke. Hudson would be backing him up if he were good enough to play at Mississippi State in the first place.

Agreed. Just because he can score doesn't mean he's not a true PG. If he was on a team with a few shooters he would rack up a lot more assists.
