Both heavily criticized, both have done a lot to better their teams. Who wins it?

Ainge, he made an incredible change from a 20 win team. Kupchak did a good job, but aquiring Garnett and Allen in the same summer was just the best thing I've seen happen trades wise in a long time.

Greg Popovich and RC Buford

Instead of giving it to a flash in the pan Ainge or Cupcake why noy give it to guys who constantly plan and tinker and make their roster better with EVERY MOVE.

Its a **** travisty that these guys have never won it

Yeah, except the GM of the YEAR is awarded to the GM based on what he did that YEAR.

If Cassell joins Brown on the team as expected I think it has to be Ainge. He turned a terrible team into a pretty complete team from top to bottom.

are you serious. how the hell has he never won it. damn. he isn't really a contender for it this year, but they ought to give him a lifetime achievement award for what he has done. and isn't he only in his early forties. he's gonna be there a very long time

Kupchak

Someone that trades Brandon Roy for Telfair should not ever win, so Ainge is out.

So it's either Wallace or Mchale?

Idk, best argument for Ainge is Kupcake started with the best player in the NBA on his team.

Without that trade there would have been no Theo to trade for KG. You have to look at the big picture.

Both of them deserve the award, so you couldn't go wrong with either one. If it were me, I would choose Kupchak because he's done (or oversaw) 3 significant things this season:

1. Derek Fisher signing
2. Trevor Ariza for Cook/Evans
3. Pau Gasol for trash

Ainge, he made reasonably fair trades. Kupchak was gifted Gasol for Kwame frickin Brown.

Mitch, not only did he have less to with in trades but his draft choices have really blossomed.

All the above leads to Kobe staying a Laker which is biggest thing.

Its gonna be Ainge. The Celtics are going to have one the highest win increases from one year to another in NBA history. All because of the trades, and fa signings he made. He should win it pretty easily.
