Anybody Feel that Avery is on his way Out?

Post#1 » by arkuo » Fri Feb 29, 2008 3:57 am

with cuban and the mavs management committed to winning now by trading their young PG for kidd, would it be only a matter of months before they start looking for a replacement for their young coach?

harris, altohough with tons of potential got traded for the commitment to winning NOW, i guess it wouldnt be far fetched if cuban shipped out his young coach too, for the commitment to winning now...

thoughts?

God I hope so. The team we use to have was good enough to win the championship the last 2 years (and this year) and he blew it. Then he traded away the 2nd most important player for Kidd and doesn't even use him in the crunch time?

Benching Kidd on our last possession -- ignoring the fact that he was brought in here for mental toughness and decision making at clutch situations -- was "Stromile Swift-level" head coaching. Viva coach of the year!

i guess it would only be a matter of time before kidd bangs heads with avery and avery gets shipped out ala byron scott...

i really dont get the point of sitting kidd out in the clutch.. what's the point of trading for kidd you little napoleon?

Avery isnt going anywhere... Who would you want to replace him with? Larry Brown?

larry brown? are you kidding me? hell no. i dont want him to turn dirk into darko... larry brown is kinda like the older version of avery... drafted darko who was supposedly an offensive machine who had the potential to be like dirk or gasol, then he wanted darko to be like duncan... so instead of developing the kid into his strengths, he wanted to go the other way... same goes with avery on dirk...

i'd rather go with some other coach before i touch the idea of getting larry brown.. although i dont know who's gonna be in line... maybe paul silas?

I would have thought Avery would have been fired long long ago.. so I don't know what Cuban is doing.

The question is -- who would replace Avery? Personally I would take anyone.

I would LOVE to see Dirk's German coach take Avery's spot. I think there are only 2 people in the world that even understand how to coach Dirk to his maximum potential. And Dirk's German coach might be the guy who understands how to use him most since he built Dirk.

I would probably make what's his name head coach... the guy we huired over the summer.. the guy who coached Barkley on the Suns.. I've forgotten his name completely all of a sudden.. then I would make Dirk's German coach the assisstant.. the offensive guru.

Either that or I'd bring Larry Brown in.. but he might be as crazy as Avery. I could see Larry Borwn benching Dirk having Darko Milicic flashbacks.. If you brought Larry Brown in you could maybe make Avery an assistant.. which would be the best place for Avery.

^Thats what im saying! I dont want Larry Brown, but who would you trust with this lineup more than Avery? Do you honestly believe Silas has a better shot at bringing us the championship than Avery?

cheer up depressed mav fans, at least we dont have isiah thomas as our coach...

thinking about it, maybe rick carisle or paul silas would be decent replacements for little napoleon here...

heck if i were cuban, i'd even give a fat ass offer to Mike Krzyzewski to coach dallas.. maybe he could do a better job than avery.. after all, he coaches kidd on team USA....

I would die with happiness if Coach K was our coach, but why would he ever leave Duke? Didnt they just make him a fat ass offer? Carlisle would be a decent candidate, but the new guys are still adjusting to his system... I think Magloire would have come up big tonight, seeing as how Damp was a no show

Mike Krzyzewski as avery replacement would be the best we could have ever asked for.. but its pretty far fetched...

but i was thinking, with a PG like kidd, who needs a top notch coach? when kidd shuts them up and runs the offense on his own....

I could see coach K taking the gig.. he would love Dirk's game. I also think he didn't take the Lakers gig because Kobe is Kobe.

heck if cuban has the balls and pay kidd $20 million and give him an extension and even think about buying a baseball team on top of that, its probable that he could give coach K a "fatter" offer if he really wanted to..

i am with you, i would die with happiness if avery gets replaced by Mike Krzyzewski...

he'd love dirk's game aside from the fact that we got his team USA point guard here running the show....

Coaches don't count towards the cap, so Cuban should make a big fat offer to Coach K to try & get him here.

But, like arkuo said, "at least we dont have Isiah Thomas as our coach."

hey guys, thinking about it, just like JES said in another thread, dirk, howard, dampier and kidd all become free agents 3 seasons from now.. if we get coach K, stay put with kidd, and be under the cap, you guys know who we could get? LEBRON JAMES!

he also happens to play under coach K in team USA and is a close friend of kidd... maybe cuban calculated that kidd trade and let a lot of our top earning players expire on the same year to pitch in a gazillion dollar offer for lebron... LOL

i mean, he opted to re-sign to a 3 year extension instead of a 5 year deal (i think)... if his contract with cleveland expires, that would be the same year the Nets transfer to brooklyn.. and we all know nets owner Jay-Z and Lebron are pretty tight... if all else fails for cleveland, and they are about to lose james for nothing, i'd be ok with a josh package for lebron 3 years from now...

That would change my opinion on Cuban 180 degree!. If we did that, the summer before, we should trade Howard and Terry for trade exceptions that we can use to steal people with....AFTER we sign Lebron!

Hell, we already named a highway after him...LBJ

And I rememebr that thread....

If coach K goes to LA, I'd gladly take Phil Jackson. Can't stand the SOB, but we would have won the Championship every year since 2006 with him.

Also like Sloan and Riley, but all those coaches are under contract.
