To save over a million dollars, free up playing time for Richard, free up a roster spot to call up a D-Leaguer, and probably because Theo wanted to be waived.
All of which is addressed in the other thread for this topic.

This was the right move for all parties. Theo is a nice guy, harder worker that gets another chance at a championship. Our owner gets to save a few bucks(or million). And for us fans, the chances are better now that we end up with Beasley or Rose. With a healthy Theo on our team we actually become a decent team, thus hurting our draft position.
Good luck Theo, I hope one day the Wolves have a center with your defensive prowess.

Plus another example of McHale granting a players wish to be traded or waived.

Agree with this accross the board. I'd also add that Theo is of no use to us this summer (unlike Walker's expiring contract, which is why I'm more reluctant to cut him loose). Also, this might allow Chris Richard some court time finally.
