So I slept on the game and it still pisses me off thinking about our moronic coach.

This trade will NOT benefit us if Avery doesn't change. Everyone and their grandma knows Kidd is not a great shooter, but everyone and their grandma except for Avery knows that you need to have Kidd there in the crunch to MAKE plays and set up shooters for good looks. There's a reason Kidd is known as a good closer and is a HOF pg. That's the big thing right there: Kidd can NOT be micromanaged by Avery

Reading all the articles this morning, EVERYONE is confused by that move. Even the Spurs are confused.

Even if we had lost the game, what kind of message is Avery sending?
"We traded so you can be our leader, but I'm going to bench you so we can run our crappy iso plays that never work b/c I'm too one-dimensional as a coach I never realize that?"

Bone headed move by Avery at the end of the game not to play Kidd, but what about the technical foul he got earlier in the game? Another dumb mistake along with Terry getting baited by Bowen. Refs blew that one, but Terry got reeled in good.

I believe Cuban should and probably will re-evaluate Avery as the head coach if he doesn't deliver the title this season.

You guys should Jeff Van Gundy.

I am a Rockets fan, but after that Dallas is my 2nd favourite team because of Dirk.

Jeff Van Gundy is one of the best coacheas as far as discipline goes and unlike Houston, you guys have a lot of offensive variety.

Make it happen. JVG to Dallas.

I would take Spongebob Squarepants at this point and let Kidd be the true coach!
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Yeah but listening to him explain it I get where he was coming from. I still trust Avery.

Basically Kidd wasn't in there because they wanted SA to switch Parker on to Dirk and get that mismatch, which we did, but then our shots did not fall.

Trust in Avery, guys

You know, with Jason Kidd on the floor you don't even need a coach.. Kidd could probably call every play every game and do a better job than any coach in the NBA.

Why should we trust in a coach that publicly shoves any blame for playoffs failures onto Dirk?
Why shold we trust in a coach that is obviously a control freak and says one thing and does the exact opposite?
Why should we trust in a coach that is as emotionally stable as Britney Spears in tough situations (see GS, Mia playoffs)?????

I think the key to understanding Avery is that he isn't concerned what kind of leader Dirk is.

All that talk of him trying to make dirk a leader and Dirk just not being a leader is smoke screen. Avery isn't concerned with how well Dirk leads. In fact he tries to hinder Dirk as a leader.. because what Avery really cares about is his own authority. Avery is worried about his own ability to be a leader. And because of this he prevents Dirk from being a leader because that could threaten his own position.

How else do you explain trying to supposedly make Dirk a leader but putting Dirk in a position where he can't even play his own game? Dirk is a great offensive player and Avery won't even let Dirk use the skills that make him such a great offensive player -- his shooting ability.

Instead he forces Dirk to do the things he isn't good at all the time then wonders why no one takes him seriously. That would be like forcing Shaq to be a spot up three point shooter then being shocked when he can't lead the team trying to do that.

But this is no accident.. it's no motivational ploy for Dirk.. it's simply a way of putting himself in the power position and ensuring his own auhority mand removing Dirk's authority.

Here's the problem: we can succeed going small that many against Tim Duncan. Why should we put Magloire on inactive list? I know he's not ready. But you can't underestimate the important of a big.

Jason Kidd did a good job but lose his chance at the end of the game. The reason is Avery want to put shooters Josh and Stack in the game. Can anyone tell Avery Stack is clearly not better from the field and from the arc. It sounds like power struggling to me.

Come on, let's Kidd lead the team and keep Avery a athletic trainer.

Avery claims now he benched Kidd because Kidd isn't agressive enough offensively.

Have you ever heard of Avery threatening to bench Dirk because he was n't agressive enough offensively? Yet you see Dirk being less and less involved with the offense and taking fewer and fewer shots. And you will see the players around Dirk constantly ignore Dirk offensively.

Are you getting my drift here? avery seems to want everyone else to shoot other than Dirk.. and he seems to want Kidd to ignore Dirk offensviely and not create shots for him...

Is that really a surprise though? Watch the golden State series and it is painfully obvious Avery had no intention of creating offense for Dirk of any kind. But we see Avery doing the same thing with Kidd.. It's as if he didn't want Kidd in at the end of the Spurs game because he didn't want tomeone creating an open shot for Dirk.. then you have Avery saying he wants dirk traded because he's not a leader...

I am sure it's all just some brilliant motivational tactic though.. it couldn't be Avery just protecting his own behind by throwing Dirk under the bus..

There was something from the SI article with Kidd on the cover where Dirk made some comment about Avery wanting Dirk traded and Dirk said it stung.. as if he believed it.

Also, Dirk's german coach who knows all the behind the scenes stuff has made negative comments about Avery and the way Avery uses Dirk. I don't think he would do that unless things were weird between Dirk and Avery.

Avery even wanted to kick Dirk's trainer out of the Mavs practices early on.. why would someone do that unless they were trying to screw Dirk over. it makes absolutely no sense.

This german coach also said that Dirk might have been traded to the Celtics this summer for the Celtics pick in the draft. That would also support that Avery wanted Dirk traded..

I check the statistics, I find Kidd shoots 3s better than Dirk, JoHo, and Stack. He's .361 from the arc. I still think AJ's comment is not legitimate. Even so, you can't undervalue a stablizing force on the floor. You shock him by benching Kidd. He responds with a miss on an open jumper over Tony Parker. It isn't about Parker's defense but Dirk's concentration.

Johnson Stands By Decision To Sit Kidd
March 1, 2008 - 6:45 am
Dallas Morning News -
Mavs' Coach Avery Johnson has defended his decision to sit Jason Kidd for the final 34.5 seconds against San Antonio on Thursday, and he is surprised about the suggestions that he and Kidd have deeper issues, the Dallas Morning News is reporting.

"I'm not talking about the surprise of him not being in, but taking it further. [Things] like I really don't like him, or we're not getting along
