have you ever thought that any of these players worked hard enough to get at least ONE shot at the title? regardless of role?

this could just be the league's way of saying "thanks"

Sorry, but thats an idiotic thing to say. You act as if Sam won't contribute anything to the Celtics. They needed some depth at the PG position you know. You honestly think Rondo or even Eddie House will help them get there? Even when Sam wasn't injured this year he could average about 30 minutes a game.

Robert Horry is a ring chaser whether you believe it or not. He's gone to good teams that have a chance at winning a ring, and his role with the team helps. Just like how Sam will give the Celtics a better chance since he's a proven leader. The T-Wolves wouldn't have even made it that far without Sam's leadership before.

Completely agree, "real" players go to teams with no shot to win at all - cause it's all about the losing in the NBA. Horry's just keepin' it real.

Karl Malone.

He broke up the Lakers dynasty because of how much a ring eludes him

I don't think Sam Cassell is a ring chaser either. He's already won a championship in his career. I think he just wants to go to a contending team, just to be on a contending team. I don't think he's desperate for a championship, he just wants to be competitive and at least be able to be playing in that playoff atmosphere again.

This is extremely foolish, if he wanted to join a team to be on a playoff atmosphere but not be ring chasing he would have went to a team that could have used him, Rondo can play 30-35 minutes a game and then House, Pruitt, Allen's, have all done a fine job backing him up. Cassel is not going to make much of a difference especialy if its just for 18 minutes.

He would have made bigger differences on playoff teams on teams with no backup point guard or not great starting point guards for that matter and teams lacking veteran experience, teams like the Nuggets, Warriors, Suns, Blazers, back to the Rockets, the Cavs, the Celtics are pretty much the one team where he will not have a big role in helping them improve but still have a great chance at getting a ring. LAME!!! Ive lost all respect for this guy, quitter.

Shaq got his rings in LA. And makes 30 mil a yr. I think he could care less.

I think losing as much as they did in Miami would bring a lot of players down to that "why try? it doesn't matter" attitude. Not saying that's a good thing, but these are spoiled athletes we are talking about. Obviously a new atmosphere has helped.
