I printed it out and it's 27 pages. That has to be one of Simmons' longest mailbags ever, and definitely qualifies as an "outpouring of support." Well done, everybody. Especially those of you who made Disney analogies.

I guess before I write "that has to be one of Simmons' longest mailbags ever," I should read the very first sentence of the article:

I don't know why your fanbase doesn't so something more public sort of something in the spirit of the 70"s like a sit in or something. I think people are eager to lend support to Seattle but , in part due to media complicity, the story isn't getting great national play.

Fans raised money to have one of those airplane banners flown in New Orleans. Its all up to the media if they want to run with the story.

This is my favorite idea:

City: Santa Cruz, Calif.
Name: Jason Jenks

Let me paint you a picture: Last game of the season for the Supes is against Portland on ESPN. As ESPN goes live ... the arena is completely empty. The place is totally silent. Where are the fans? Outside at a pregame rally with former sonic greats such as GP, Shawn Kemp, Lenny Wilkens, Slick Watts, etc. After tip-off, fans head to their seats chanting SAVE OUR SONICS!!! Then during a TV timeout, Mr. Sonic Nate McMillan walks out onto the court, holds up a sign saying "SAVE OUR SONICS" and Payton, who is sitting courtside, joins him on the court! The place would go freakin' BALLISTIC!!! It would create national attention and go down in Seattle sports history as being one of the most amazing sports moments ever!

That would be pretty rad. We as fans have to unite to do something pretty awesome!!! I'd be willing to buy tickets and plan or organize something for that last game!!

For some reason, reading this brought tears to my eyes. That would be amazing...Too bad it's entirely unrealistic.

it would be fun to try. even 500 fans on the court would look incredible. everyone chanting "SAVE OUR SONICS". just say when and i am there.

Thing is, I don't think you can prevent a few rowdy fans from spoiling the whole thing. I'm old enough to remember "Disco Sucks Night," and I know there's a reason why they strictly enforce the no-fans-on-the-court rules these days.
