Where would the sixers be today as a team?

It is likely that we would have at least one championship under our belt by now.

That's a VERY hard question. Who knows what picks we would have had, or what players we would have traded for. It would have changed EVERYTHING. But I still don't think we would have won a ring. Maybe made the finals twice but lost both times.

Iverson is no longer a sixer. Let it go.

That pretty much sums it up.

The hypothetical questions are getting old.

If you guys dont like the question you dont have to answer it. All im saying is look to the past cuz that 2001 NBA finals is all we'll be able to look back on for many years. This team is many years away from contention

I'm starting to change my views on this particular statement. If the Celtics made such a turnaround from last year, Gasol gets traded for Kwame Brown, and George blocks a Kidd trade....anything can happen in the NBA.

Drafting a good player, Signing a FA that fills a major need, and the continual development of our young players may lead us to the promised land sooner than we expect to get there.

EXACTLY! What if we drafted Dirk instead of Larry Hughes? What if we traded Hughes for McGrady? What if we didn't trade for Mutumbo? What if we won the lottery in '97 and drafted Tim Duncan instead of trading the rights to KVH (pick #2)??

Please don't answer any of those questions.

The Sixers would have traded Kobe to Denver for Andre Miller, Joe Smith and 2 number ones.
Two years from being two years away.

It's easy to play the what if game...we all do it at some level. The key is to learn from past mistakes and improve moving forward.

What if the sixers had the third pick last?? Our lineup would be this!!
Our future plans for a PF would not be in the mix. We probably would of kept Korver too. It didn't happen so who cares. I am happy with our pick with Thad, but I wish it happened this way instead. :(

5-Dalembert
4-Horford
3-Dala
2-Green
1-Miller

Kobe in Philly? Come on.... He would be worshipped 10 fold than he is here in L.A. You know it. I know it.

If the draft happened over. What Philly fan would still take AI over Kobe?

No doubt AI is crazy good. From the very second he put on his uni. That string of 40's his rookie year was unbelievable. I understand loyalty and all. But seriously? You would take AI over Kobe?

Everyone is forgetting the main part of the question. Bily King would have still been our GM so we would of been were we are at now. I would take AI. Kobe would stab his closet friend in the back for a cheeseburger if he was really hungry. Plus AI s a Philly player. Sadly, Im hoping AI doent sign wit the Nuggets after his contract to finish his career here.
Andre Miller is a bad 3pt shooter.

I would still take AI over Kobe. Do you remember that draft? Imagine if we took Kobe 1st overall and he averaged like 5 ppg, while Iverson averaged over 20 and won rookie of the year. And Kobe has won 0 championships without Shaq. Kobe still hasn't won an MVP and AI will go down in history as the better scorer and passer. Some may say Iverson changed the way the game is being played today. Some may disagree with me here, but I don't believe Kobe could have carried the 2001 Sixers to the Finals. Iverson in his prime>Kobe in his prime. He is one of two players playing today that have been considered "unguardable" (Shaq being the other) I'm sorry, I just had to put that out there. I'm sick of people thinking Kobe is so much more amazing than Iverson. The only reason people don't consider Iverson as good is because he's not a 6'6" guard that the media loves to compare to MJ. I know this board hates hypothetical questions, but don't you guys think the Lakers would have still won those rings if they had AI instead of Kobe?

If my memory is correct Kobe said at the time he would not sign with the Sixers, so what's the point?
