Man, 6 years? Wow, funny how as you get older time just fly's by so quickly...

haha sappy much? do you miss his smile? the smell of his breath? shall i make you a music video? in slow motion?

From this i conclude that Enetric is among other things...gay.

and if that doesn't get him to come back, I guess he really is gone (or gay) and we can all stop hoping and move on to talk about the nets without him.

He was arrogant, close minded and one-sided, but apparently that was the same side that everyone was on anyway. I'm completely indifferent to his departure, although he's far more memorable on this board than I could ever be.

yeh...time does fly...and yes I'm not going anywhere...

as far as E...right now I've been cracking up with how many threads there has been...

Its like... the man, the myth, the legend...

of course he had his foes...everyone has bumped heads with him at some point or another...even myself...on more than several occasions...but that could happen with anyone...

Fact is, he's overwhelming liked on this board and its nice to see members show their respect for a guy who put a lot of effort into posting on a sports forum during his free time...

fyi, I emailed him earlier and got a reply this morning... he reassured me again he's still reading...and finds it really nice how enetric threads pop up...

but the last two emails I got were all about the kidd trade and me asking him his thoughts...

His replys are in enetric fashion and we'll see...maybe I'll post them...

Let's predict E's thoughts on the trade!!

I think he believes we're all overhyping Harris. He's a believer in true star power, and doesn't think Harris can get us where we want to go. However, if he's couple with Lebron in a couple years we can dominate the conference. He will also say that we can't look that far into the future in trying to get Lebron, because who knows what'll happen.

Something like that.

We need Big E again this playoff season to keep those Raptor Trolls at bay during playoff time. Hope he comes back during playoff.

As for the deal...I said when KG went to Boston that the window was just about closed. I said then...that the only shot the Nets had was to get off to a good start THIS season...and for them to be BUYERS not sellers at the trade deadline...and to offer expiring Magloire, Nachbar and young prospects we have stockpiled to become a better big three or maybe a big four.

But all of that was predicated on getting off to a good start. We didn't and it all fell apart. Sad that Kidd went public. However, glad he didn't pull a Kobe and rip anyone. He said in his interview with ESPN that it was no one's fault just time to move on. I wish we had been able to pull off what the Heat did and get a quality player. Or decide to be buyers and go after Gasol. But, we didn't justify being buyers with our record and attendance. And someone making an awful deal like the Suns made is rare in this league.

The window is now closed. The only logical thing to do now is to also salary dump Carter. I expect someone will be interested. It wont be a good offer, but someone will decide that his average annual value per his output would be worth their while if they don't have to give up much value. He is not a max contract.

This entire thing was unfortunate. The top tier big man always eluded us in deals. I do not blame management. I truly do not think that we ever had a legit chance to get someone. I have heard for years outsiders tell me that we should have given up our all stars and top prospects to get less than elite big men. However, I see the good bigs, and even the elite bigs go for a ton less than what others told me we had to give up.

My issue was always the same. I can't stand it when non Nets fans told me we should give us RJ, Carter, Nenad, Marcus etc to get a Gasol when he goes to LA for Kwame Brown and Jarvis Crittendon. They were wrong that we should have given up too much. Everything has a price. Overpaying to get what you need wont fix a problem without giving you a new one. We wouldn't have been any better. Dallas may find find that out. They didn't give up a lot of pieces that are so special for our future but they did give up several smaller pieces for their present.

Things didn't work out for us as we had hoped these last 3 seasons...but for the last 7 as a whole we have been one of the most successful teams in the NBA. I am grateful to Kidd for all he did for the franchise. Like most players of his era he failed to win a title in an era that has been dominated by Shaq and TD winning 8 titles in 9 seasons. But he was however, one of only a small handful to be a dominant player to lead his team to the NBA finals in the last 15-20 years. To me that may keep him a notch below a Shaq, TD, Jordan, Hakeem, and Bird. But it puts him in good company with Stockton/Malone, Payton, Barkley, Iverson, Ewing, Dirk, Drexler and currently Lebron...who no doubt is good enough to cross the threshold as a dominant player to lead a team to an NBA finals (and its still early for Lebron). But that is good company to be in.

I would like nothing more than to see Kidd be the difference for the Mavs going from a soft team to a great team at this late stage of his career.

I can't help but be amused at one side note. 4 years ago, the Mavs refused to give 10mil plus per year to Nash who they said was fragile and was aging. They let him walk, got better defensively as a result...actually have made it further into the playoffs than the much more praised Suns team that Nash is apart of. Last year they suffer the most embarrassing playoff elimination in basketball history. What do they do? They trade for a PG that is now 5 years older than Nash was then, is someone the media characterizes as fragile despite never missing games, and they will pay him double per season to try and take them to the next level. If he can do it...for me that would be the ultimate final nail in the coffin to all those that continue to overrate Nash and take Kidd for granted. Just to make sure I was clear...my amusement is with those that overrate Steve Nash not anything against Dalls.

On a personal note...I really wish Kidd could have gotten his 100th triple double last night in a Nets uniform. That would have been a fitting goodbye to the guy who transformed this franchise. Wasn't meant to be. I wish him well. And I hope he does the right thing and does not trash anyone publicly like Kobe did. All he has to do is play.

E seems like quite the knowledgeable Nets fan. BUT, I disagree with this "E" fellow on one point, if i may be allowed to have a differing opinion than him on here(just kidding).

The Window is now open again for this team. Agree or disagree? i haven't been this excited about the Nets since Kidd first got here. I know i'm not the only one!

I think based on what teams normally get for high priced older players who go public with trade demands...we did very well in the deal. However, one great game off the bench against a putrid opponent from Devin Harris does not convince me he is going to be a star player.

I would have greatly preferred that the Nets kept the big 3...and found a deal like the Lakers got for Gasol. We had the goods to make that deal. Unfortunately, it wasn't there for us. But I would have preferred to give Magloire, Nachbar, Marcus Williams and either 2 picks...or 1 pick and one of Boone or SW and gotten Gasol. Even if I had to give a bit more...its no more than Memphis actually got. And in fact...our picks would have been higher.

From what I read recently...Memphis didn't even shop for a better offer which makes me think...West had something to do with that deal.

I also would have loved to have gotten the all time royal value Miami got for Shaq. A player even older than Kidd with an even more ridiculous contract who isn't currently anywhere near as good as Kidd.

The Heat got PAID...and by that standard...we didn't get what I call a proven player. But those bad deals like Kerr made are rare today...so I can't blame Rod Thorn for that. He did well by the standard of what you get...and for Dallas they gave as much as they could give. In fact the sum of their parts was a big hit to what they do. Individually I am not impressed with anyone. But collectively, this hurts them in many ways more than it will help us. The funniest part to me is that we got Hassell. A player you know I have wanted for several seasons in many of my KG scenarios. Glad we got Hassell...but without KG...it just doesn't feel as good...lol.

I like Harris. I think he has talent. That whole top 5 young PG thing you just said? (top 5 PGs at that age) OK, but there is a CANYON between the guys above him in this league that you are referring to at this time. Chris Paul, Derron. And I think I would prefer guys like Roy or Foye in the long run but I hope I am wrong.

My question about this deal is...what now? What's the plan here? So we go from middle of the road team to lower middle of the road team? I have said for years, be a contender...or have a plan how you are getting there shortly...or be in the lottery. What would be the point of making the playoffs this year? What does it do for our future?

Did we trade ourselves further into mediocrity? I mean, we didn't get good picks from Dallas. At least not the first pick. So we have a lot to resolve. I don't get giddy about this guy or that guy in the moment. You know that. I look big picture. How many guys have we had that had a handful of games where everyone was jumping off the roof about them?

The fact is...we just traded the best player in Nets franchise history who was still playing at a high level. We have a lot of upside inconsistent youth...most of which is destined to be role players not stars. And we have one big contract left for an older veteran who is going to start to show decline. Now that we dealt Kidd...unless we can make a MAJOR turnaround right away...we should dump VC...become a lottery team...and take a step back for a few seasons.

The thing about this deal...Harris, and a healthy VC/RJ plus the role guys we have...are good enough to make the playoffs in a bad conference. When they get bounced round 1 in 4 or 5 games...what good is that?

Hopefully Harris can explode into something special. But more than likely he doesn't have a big window of time to do it.

I will be rooting for Devin Harris to break out. Since I expect so little from the picks we got...it all hinges on him.
