What if Walker gets cut?

Post#1 » by Darren » Sat Mar 1, 2008 12:25 pm

Assume Cassell to Boston, Ratliff to Pistons, Murray to Clippers, Barry to San Antonio, Gircek to Pheonix, there's ain't many interesting name left.

If Antoine Walker successfully seeks his buyout, would we be a suitor. With all his flaws, he's still an above average scorer and passer. And we have a hole at 2. I dislike JET the starter gameplan. At least Walker at 3 could fix some defensive problems. And the Mavs would all of a sudden become the best rebounding team with very good rebounder at each position.

What do you guys think?

C - Damp / Magloire / Allen
PF - Dirk / Bass / Juwan
SF - Toine / Stack / Wright
SG - JoHo / DG / EJ
PG - Kidd / JET / JJB

Are you high? He is completely incapable of shooting or playing defense? Why on earth would mavs want him. He is fat and slow. He does not play D ever, even as far back as Kentucky. He will try to voume shoot at his advanced age.

In other words, NO THANKS

He was actually pretty good here in Dallas -- except for the pouting he did on one game prior to being used as the center on the FASTEST run and gun team ever assembled -- and I have nothing bad to say about him. The posts are right though, that he won't fit in here given his playing style.

Still, I would take him over Juwan freaking Howard.

Darren wants to start him, not keep him on the bench.

Either way, NO WAY

I agree with it. With all his flaws, he actually plays quite well when he's here. He runs off the clock occasionally, though. He can score, rebound, initiate offense and play physical basketball. I'd be fine with it. At least, we need not play out of position for an undersized shaky shooter.

I don't actually mean that. You can put Brandon Bass at 3 and Antoine Walker at backup 4.

Cuban is a liar. He keeps telling us Kidd trade would not happen. And all of a sudden, he drives Devin to the airport. He just wants to justify the tension in locker room. I bet he has no problem with his agent.

As the Mavs is not as appealing to free agency, signing Antoine Walker is better than nothing. He's not as awful as locker room presence as McInnis. He's not a rapist like Ruben Patterson. He's not as one-dimension as Ira Newble. And we need a more versatile lineup to keep the opponents in check and get some help at 1.

Consider all player has gone, Walker is a fine choice. Cassell to Boston, Murray to Pacers, Lue to Denver, Barry to Spurs, Ratliff to Pistons, P.J. Brown to Boston, Chris Anderson to New Orleans...nothing left.

Pursing Antoine Walker is a bad move at this point. I view him as a cancer and I really prefer to have nothing to do with him.

EW! Walker is terrible. Ever since his one all star season with Boston hes been awful. Dump him on San Antonio and let him take them down instead

I would rather have Jerome James and his awful contract than a 1 year deal with fatoine Walker. Yes Walker was ok here but he was asked to play no defense by Nellie. Again this team needs a backup point guard more than a 3rd "PF" that is soft, a bad volume shooter and plays little to no defense.

HELL NO!

Until he gets rid of that freaking shimmy and learns to play INSIDE ONLY, my stance is still the same...HELL NO!

I don't want him inside either... the guy can't hit a layup with any more consistency than those shots you have to hit to end the shooting stars competition at NBA All-Star weekend.

Walker ability to play defense and hit layups is why we have fond memories of Gana Diop!
10:20 (pm, 6/29/06) The Mavs take Maurice Ager at No. 28... Ager walks up to the stage in a triple-breasted, oversized beige suit, goes to shake hands with Stern and immediately gets whistled for a foul on Dwyane Wade.
