Does anyone believe that Denver or G.S. can beat the #1 seed

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Sat Mar 1, 2008 10:01 pm

At this point it seems either Denver or Golden State will make the playoffs, but one of them as the 8th seed.
Does anyone believe that Denver or G.S. can beat the #1 seed out west, whether it is the Lakers, Spurs or Suns?

I think both of them have a good chance against the Suns, but both will get trumped by Spurs or Lakers.

We did last year :D

But seriously, it all depends on the matchup. If we go up against Dallas or Phoenix, it's possible.

If the 1st seed is the Suns, Rockets or Mavericks.

I bet you most people will vote "NO" because they don't think we can beat a team like the Suns.

They will only say that because they haven't seen the series yet. Just like last year when we all haven't seen a Dallas-Warriors series, we all believed that the Warriors would be no match to Dallas. We all just looked at stupid stats that pointed out how the Warriors were a bad team and how Dallas was a better team on paper. We all saw how that series turned out.

If someone told you before the 2007 playoffs that the Warriors would upset the Mavericks, you would say: "I have to see it to believe it". That's basically what it's going to be like this year again. There's no stats that will guarantee the Warriors will be eliminated by a 1st seed. Unless that 1st seed team is the Lakers or Jazz. haha.

I think either can win. Every team has a possibility of winning another to me, if that's what your asking. Answer is Yes.

If the first seed is the Suns, Mavs, and Rox, then we probably could. Against the Jazz, HELL NO.

Such is the closeness of the West, I get the feeling that anyone can beat anyone.

That said, Denver and Golden State could beat less of the teams than say, the LA Lakers could.

I dont see either of them beating The Spurs or The Lakers. Any other #1 seed and they definately have a good shot. Anything is possible though, of course.

I'm voting "NO" because I think the #1 seed is between the Spurs, Lakers and Hornets, all of which would likely obliterate either the Nuggets or the Warriors.

Suns yes, Spurs/Lakers no. The Spurs are the Spurs, while Kobe has had GS's number for years and LA has owned Denver this year head to head.

I don't think Denver has a chance, but Golden State has a shot against anybody. Their style of play is so frenetic, and they always manage to control the tempo win or lose so they'll be comfortable at least. If the shots are falling they can do it to anybody, just not three series in a row.

As much as it pains me to say it, the only shot Denver has of getting out of the 1st round is if they play the inexperienced Hornets.. Any other West team would take care of them handely.. They should've made a move at the deadline..

The Warriors on the other hand can probably take out the Mavs and Hornets, but they'll get spanked by the likes of the Spurs, Lakers, Suns and Jazz

GS and Den cannot beat the Jazz and the Lakers. Warriors have a slim chance at the Spurs.

Let's look at the 6 teams above them: Kobe's playing on a busted finger, Spurs aura or invinicblity is near gone, Nash and Shaq aren't getting any younger, there's debate on if the Jazz are just a tough team or really contenders, Hornets look like they're wearing glass slippers and hoping midnight isn't too soon, & Mavs lack an inside presence.

Cinerella stories happen all the time. (warriors last year, the Heat coming back to win the chip, etc.)

You have to have an appreciation for how rare it is for an upset to happen in the first round. Some people are going to point out how close the teams are but both Denver and Golden State are about 5 behind. I don't see it happening for either one again. Let the dream end already. It's happened and I'm glad I saw it but even if Dallas were matched up again with GS I doubt we see a repeat this year.

Most fans in the bay area actually thought we had a chance against the mavericks...i did. so i dont know what ure talkin about. i think everyone knew the warriors had a good chance vs the mavs
