False. Iverson is one of the toughest players in the NBA and constantly sacrifices his body. He's in his 30's now and hasn't shown and signs of regression, he's got a really durable body. I think he would have done fine as a reciever in the NFL.

There's a qualitative difference in the type of pounding you get in those two sports though. Iverson has never in his whole NBA career faced a hit on the level of what he'd face as standard fare in the NFL.

That said, it's conceivable he could have made it as a wide receiver, it's just in every conceivable way people normally separate out between receivers and defensive backs, Iverson fits better as a defensive back. Then add in that on the high school level he actually played defensive back, and did not play wide receiver, and really the only way he even tries to play receiver is if he refuses to play cornerback.
