so the clippers get al thornton in the prime of his career and only have to pay him a rookie salary? i know you're just kidding but actually sounds pretty decent.

Can a Clippers fan tell me what position Thorton most likely projects as a starter in the NBA? NBA 2k8 gives me PF but his game seems like it may be more suited for the 3.

Which NBA player does he play closest to? Marion?

Gasol>Brand at flopping...

I really like Thorton's game, though. He might not be a 20 ppg scorer, and I don't think he has the potential to become a great player, unlike Durant or Oden or whatever, but he's going to be a solid starter for 10+ years. And he'll absolutely abuse you when paired up with a superstar like Kobe or LeBron.

thornton is a tweener. his rebouding numbers suggest he's suited for the 4 but it really doesn't matter. the star al plays closest to is probably dirk imo. al can shoot it from anywhere just like dirk and has the footwork on the perimeter to get a clean shot off. he can pull out a lot of up and unders, hesitation moves, jab steps, you name it. although al isn't nearly as good a shooter as dirk is, his athleticism and aggressiveness is something reminiscent of shawn marion.

I liked him going back to the draft, but I've really gotten to like him, he's fun to watch and his approach seems pretty good. Versatile scorer, strong rebounder, good athlete, good size as a big small foward. Which allows him to play the 4 at times. I just need to get more of an idea on his defense.

Played terrific last night against Denver.

Like Charles said "Al Thornton not being in this game (rookie/soph game) is a travesty.". It was a travesty, and he should of easily been there over Navarro.

I've been on the Thornton bandwagon for a long time. Props tot he young fella'. [To think I was arguing with Bulls fans that he was a better pick than Noah a few months ago.]

(A full potential Livingston with kneecaps and all, or a FA)
Maggs
Thorn
Brand
Kaman

Looks very scary.

yeah I knew he was gonna be a monster. I mean in preseason he was ripping it as well then fell away then came back out of nowhere. I thought he should have been in the rookie game as well. His knock is he's 24 but IMO hes still good at 24 and will be an elite SF in the west. He has great size and can score, Also had a huge vertical in pre draft camp. Another knock on him was everyone was worried about his wrist. Something about an accident made them wonder whether it'd affect his shooting form, and whether it required work done.
He should have been in the game over many guys. To me at this moment regardless of age I think he's the best rookie performance wise. With the addition of potential guys like Durant have to come into play. I was surprised when seattle could have had any rookie in jeff greens place and they didnt pick someone like Thornton. IMagine that combination. But anyway keeping any eye on Thornton, when his free agency comes people will be after him. Except he'll be like 26-27 then.

I cant front, Al Thorton is a monster. This guy is flying below the radar because he is on the Clippers. I live in Los Angeles so I get to watch him play alot. This guy is no joke. Great pickup by the Clips.

This is why Gilbert needs to bolt and come to the Clips. Brand/Thorton/Gilbert/Kaman core would be a playoff team in the West.

Yeah he is. I dumped Yao for him on my fantasy team and the first night he puts up 30+ with 11 boards. BEAST!
