Kevin Garnett is so overated!

How many points he usally have in the fourth quarter of a game?
One or two?
The Celtics coach knows why he runs all for Paul Pierce and Ray in crunch time.

Kobe Bryant and LeBron James are the only two real superstars in the NBA.

Superstars are the elite of the elite. They are those players who are both a household name and dominant to the point of being not only MVP's for their teams, but quite possibly for the league. These lists that contain more than just a handful of players aren't discerning enough to be worthy of being considered true 'Superstar' lists.

That said, here's my list for the 2007-2008 season:

Duncan (San Antonio is who they are because of him)
Lebron (He's legit)
Kobe (Anybody who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves)
KG (Should this really be questioned?)

Honorable mentions for 2007-2008
Nash
Paul
Dwight
Yao

My prediction for next year:
Duncan
Lebron
Kobe
KG
Paul
Dwight
Yao

The only reason he is so "popular" is because of Eva. In terms of basketball skills, players like Baron and Kidd are lightyears better than him. Just wait for when the media shifts away from him and starts seeing past Eva.

My "superstar" list would include:

-Kobe Bryant
-LeBron James
-Yao Ming
-Tim Duncan
-Shaquille O'Neal (even though his game has fallen off, in the general public's eye, he's still relevant)
-Allen Iverson

Define superstar first?

Magic Johnson is a super star to any NBA fan, but who thinks Karl Malone is one? He was as loved by his team as anyone, was about as good a PF as has ever existed.

If Karl Malone wasn't a superstar to you, Kevin Garnett sure isn't.

In this day an age of the media's ways "superstars" are more manufactured by others, rather than created by themselves. I don't think an over-hyped, even if extremely talented, player is a superstar if the time and money invested in him doesn't pay off in both the profit of his marketability and the benefit he provides to the success of his team. Essentially, how good is he individually, how good does he make his teammates and how much does his image make off the money invested?

To me, Kobe Bryant takes the "arch nemesis" role of today's superstar. Lebron is on the cusp and Duncan is the established vet who goes unrecognized by either the ignorant masses and/or those unwilling to admit his greatness.

Shaq is a superstar because his dominance is still recent and his current potential to win a championship is enticing. Wade had a shot by "one upping" Shaq, but that shot has been put on hold by not succeeding or showing significant development.

Other than than they they either don't get bang for the buck or aren't that valuable a basketball player.

aingaran wrote:How are we defining super star?

If it's ability to carry a team on their own.

There are only 2 Super Stars in the NBA right now.

1. Tim Duncan
2. Lebron James

Kobe lovers don't flame yet... We'll wait to see if can get past the 1st round of the playoffs w/o Shaq and we can annoint him a superstar. Noone is denying his individual ability/talent. He's the most talented invidual player since Michael Jordan. We have yet to see him win without Shaq.

i wonder if u realize how stupid u sound. maybe another 81 point performance will teach u silly raptor fans a lesson

IMO, superstars are players that completely stand out from the "good players" and have great seasons dominating every year, not just 1 or 2. There have been alot of players that I see that have 1 good year or not consistent throughout there careers on here.

The only Superstars in my eyes are....

Kobe
Shaq
Duncan
Lebron
Wade
Iverson
KG
Kidd
Yao

That's it. There are alot of up and comers like Paul, Williams, Howard, Melo and Bosh etc and alot of other late bloomers or inconsistent "stars" like Nash, T-mac, Carter, Dirk etc. But they haven't dominated throughout there careers and been tops in the league every year.

Wade and Iverson should be off your list... they are not even in the playoffs.
