you're insulting a lot of people. assuming they care what you think and take what you say to heart (probably not)

but look, why do you think guys like nash or dncan doesn't have (many) tatoos?
because they don't want (m)any tattoos. it has nothing to do with brain power.

I have no tattoos, and I'm closer to an idiot than I am a genius. you have 1 tattoo.. and well, nevermind

imo they are clearly smarter than iverson/marbury/mat barnes...of course it's not always the case, so i'm not saying that you are stupid but in Nba the guys with lower iq have more tatoos...that's my opinin.
your opinion is wrong.. and thats a fact.

step away from this thread before it's too late, if it isn't already. also look up the word prejudice while you're gone.

i don't know if you realised(probably not) but while trying to be smart you insulted me much more than i did..but whatever.at least you tried to explain something, not like the canadian boy and his brilliant statement "go back to school"

Anyway, i apologise to all the posters that have tatoos..as i said..i never wanted to insult them..i was talking about basketball players.the last thing i want is to come here and argue with other sixer fans about non basketball things :wavefinger: .so next time i will try to be more explicit .Peace!

Matt Barnes did go way over board...how much do you think he spent on his 'artwork'?? Even if I thought is was cool, I'm probably too cheap to waste any money on something like that.

Interesting topic ...

I would look for what personal reward someone gets for getting a tatoo. There has to be some personal benefit or they would not do it. They must be getting some rise in their social status within their peers. That is why most of us do anything we do. Either that or they are trying to SHOCK THEIR PARENTS !!! LOL .... I assume the NBA players are past the stage of parent shocking so I assume they are getting some sort of increase in social status amonst their peers.

OR ..... NOT .... Maybe they just like how it looks ... Who knows ...

Makes no never-mind to me ...

uhhhh look around...everyone has tattoos and it just so happens that basketball is the only sport with cutoffs so you can see most of their tattoos. Guaranteed baseball and football players have just as many tattoos.

Do you really need to be explained why your '3+ tats = Moron' theory is ignorant, offensive and just plain stupid? Really? Do you seriously need someone to explain that to you? Honestly? If that's the honest truth then I need to remember to be more supportive, a little more calm and little more understanding of you in the future.

How much does this cost? My understanding is it's not cheap. I can see the rich athlete putting money into it, but how is the kid washing dishes somewhere affording it?

I would say a small tattoo can start at 150 bucks, and the detailed big ones can range anywhere between 1000-3000 dollars...Of course, I'm pulling the numbers out of my ass, but I can't see it being much more than that.

I think a lot of people get tatoo's for someone who died, or someone who means a lot to them in their life (like their mother or grandmother who raised them after their father ran off). Then they get something else that means a lot to them, like a basketball or something. Kind of stupid if you ask me, why not do something productive to commerate somebody like a scholarship fund (yeah I know, many players do charitable things alrady), but they can do whatever they want to their body.

I know someone who got a $1,000 tatoo when he was 19. All over his chest. He's your average college kid, what a total waste. I just wonder how horrible these things will look on these guys when they are older.

Listening to people talk about why they got a tatoo is weird, I mean, I start thinking, "So you paid a lot of money to get a picture of it on your body?????"

Oh, and tatoo's on women are DISGUSTING!

I only like tattoos that have meaning behind them. For instance having a tattoo of your kids name or pictures, I see as perfectly fine. However when people get tattoos of random stuff, just makes no sense to me. (Coy fish and dragons)
