if we are going by position
C Duncan
F KG
F Bowen
G Artest
G Kobe

Artest is a G/F so he can be slotted in for the guard position since i didn't think any other guard really deserved it. Duncan is a F/C so he can go to center. Big Ben was a system player, much like Nash.

^career 2.30 stl per game, he also plays great man-to-man pressure defense.

^baron is a lockdown defender, who cause havoc for opposing guards, fighting through picks and forcing turnovers, Iverson doesn't exactly intimidate on defense.

Except for the fact that Baron ISN'T a lockdown defender. Baron is a pretty crap defender really, are you looking at the same guy I am?

ssmaverick, let's agree to disagree on this one-we seem to be going around in circles.

Well, I don't watch mutch Warriors game, but Baron is not a "pretty crap defender".When he cares, he can be quite good. But calling him one of the top defenders of the 2000s?I would not go that far.

On the topic, well, names like Kobe, KG, Bowen, Duncan, Wallace, Camby, Artest obviously come to mind.
How was Eddie Jones' defense in the start of the decade?Could he make the list?
Mutombo is still up there, IMO, especially considering he was IIRC DPOY back in 2001.
Also would like to add guys like Battier, Prince, Rick Fox.Payton was still quite good as a defender, Kidd also.

Marion should be considered here too. He gets a ton of steals, blocks and defensive rebounds, and he can defend four positions. 82games.com ranked him as the best defensive player in the league last year using a combination of on/off numbers and box score stats.

really? he doesn't deserve to be on this list but baron davis is a VERY good defender. when he wants to be (3-4 times a yr) he's downright elite.
