Although Boston's depth chart looks great on paper, I think the 04' Lakers have an edge. Shaq was still near his prime and at that point Kobe was ready to take over the franchise. And let's not forget that the two players missed at least 15 games.
Although they lost to the Pistons in the finals, talent-wise LA was much superior.

the lakers, there is no way that Ray Allen who is a horrible defender can guard Kobe.
Kobe goes off for 40ppg. While Pierce goes off for big numbers as well against George, but slightly less.
Shaq dominates Perkins, and KG gets the better end of Malone, but KG also chokes the series away.
I don't think either team is better than the 04 pistons though.

They had Kobe in 2004 as well and they lost to the inferior team.
2004 Series
the Pistons eliminated the Pacers in six games and will face the heavily favored Los Angeles Lakers for the championship beginning Sunday.

I'm sorry but Pierce usually plays Kobe pretty well. Also you forget why Detroit won the series, it was because of their defense and the Celtics Defense is on par with those Pistons but their Offense is better.
I personally think the Lakers were better, but considering they did lose to an inferior team, Boston in '08 is not much inferior to them if at all.

Are you kidding me? The Celtics this year is better than that Twolves team in 2004 IMO. Also the Lakers didn't even sweep anyone in the playoffs that year, so how are they going to sweep this years Celtics? Let's be real here.

You gotta stop using that if Malone was healthy stuff. I can say the same thing if KG is 100% or Ray Allen or Sam Cassell is 100%. Also you could say the same about if Sam Cassell was 100% in 2004 they would have won.

Those aren't the defensive match-ups. Pierce guards Kobe. You also have to look at the fact that this Celtics team has a very good team defense, which is underrated.

pretty sure Kobe was playing hurt too. But even if he was healthy, it wouldn't been a sweep or necessarily a win for the Lakers; Kobe did alot of stupid things that series.
