Anyone else hoping Detroit gets the number 1 seed?
Just wondering what your guys' thoughts were.
I personally think we match up better with Boston. They have a big 3, we have a big 3. Ray Allen in particular seems to struggle against us(because of the Ninja) and I think Dwight could cancel out KG, if not be a little better. Dwights been very good against them this year and I think he's too big and strong for KG, but too quick for Perkins and Pollard. And as Dwight is showing again when he's able to just wait for others to take shots he can gobble up the offensive rebounds.
Pierce always kills us but Lewis can either pull KG out to the perimeter or shoot over Pierce from 3.
Maybe they have a bit better depth now but I think SVG can formulate an effective gameplan, whereas Doc is not a strong X/O coach.
Detroit I just don't feel that confident against as long as they have Billups and Wallace.

aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Given the Magics history of losing to Detroit (although they have won the last two matches), Orlando should hope that Detroit gets the number 1 seed.
But a few things you should know about the matchup from a Detroit fans perspective. Hedo can absolutely destroy the Pistons, he is too strong for Tayshaun and gets into the paint easily against him. That pick and roll the Magic were running for Turk killed Detroit the last few games. Hopefully the addition of Ratliff as a shotblocker can help protect the paint a little bit against the likes of Hedo and Dwight.
And that brings me onto Dwight- this kids a beast. Sure- Sheed, Dice and Davis helped contain him last year but that was Howards first time in the playoffs and he has probably grown from that experience. In addition, Detroit plays Jason Maxiel far too much and there is no hope at all that Maxi will be able to contain him and Dwight will also overpower Amir Johnson easily as well. Once again the signing of Theo might help slow down Dwight (fouling him constantly) but I think on the whole Dwight may be too much to handle for Detroit.
In any case, Detroit is hoping that they remain the 2 seed because Cleveland will either be the 4th or 5th seed and Pistons like their chances against the Magic or Raps a little bit better than they do against the Cavs

IMO, Dwight isn't very good on offense, but PJ Brown has never given him trouble. So, that doesn't help Boston, at all.

Well we've beaten both of them twice, only difference being that Detroit has beaten us twice and Boston has beaten us once, but if we played them again who knows.
We beat Boston by 2 and 3 points. We beat Detroit by 2 and 18 (but also lost to them big).
I don't think I could choose who I'd rather face. Boston has 3 guys that can turn it up and take over a game at any moment. Detroit has one, maybe two guys (Billups and Hamilton).
Can't make that decision just yet.

i want this to be the order of the east:
1 detroit
2 boston
3 orlando
4 cleveland
5 toronto
6 new jersey
7 philadelphia
8 chicago
that way cleveland can beat detroit in the second round and we could play them in the ECF...would be an interesting ECF too

this is def best case scenario, and the only way wed have a shot at making it to the finals, but if we could make it past boston in the 2nd round, im pretty sure we could take down cleveland in the ECF as long as they make it that far.
During the Wizards' rout, a heckler yelled at new Knick Steve Francis, "Hey Stevie, Where are you going next?" Francis turned to the fan and quipped, "To the bank."

I'm Hoping we don't play Chicago or Washington.
Looking past the 1st round is not the best idea either....
We can still lose to a veteraned New Jersey team.

yea i'm still worried about the 1st Round. I think if we played our best ball we could beat anyone, but we also could lose to just about anyone. I mean if Dallas last year can lose in the 1st round, anyone can.
I'm just glad this postseason we'll go in believing we have a legitimate shot at advancing no matter who we face.

I just want to get out of the 1st Round before worrying about anything else.
IMO, Cleveland f*cked themselves with the trades and will fall to 5th.
