Bench Yi because of Olympic?

Post#1 » by scionpower » Sun Mar 2, 2008 10:47 pm

Is it true that Yi plays less minutes because he wanted to be unwounded until the Olympic? not like Yao.......

or is he just still hitting the rookie wall?

They should bench him from the Olympics so that he can rest for the Bucks.

Combination of hitting rookie wall and CV right now is the better option for us to win games. Personally, I'd just give Bogut/Yi 38 minutes or so a night each and let them develop. This season is over regardless.

But we do have to build CV's trade value as well, so it's kind of a catch 22.

Unfortunately he will be playing in the Olympics. It would be much better to have him resting this summer. But it's not going to happen.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

As I recalled, Yi played games continuously the whole last year (maybe couple weeks rest durning the draft)....

I guess he may need to do it again this year.....

The Olympics are a much different deal in China than they are here, especially with them being in Beijing. I don't think that's the reason he's not playing much (lack of good play would be my guess), but when the Bucks have nothing to play for down the line, it wouldn't surprise me to Yi benched more to prepare for the Olympics.

As bad as Villanueva was last night, I'd just as soon see Yi start getting more minutes again.

I get building trade value for CV but at the cost of Yi's potential. With CV's play as of late he isn't building "positive" value.

Give Yi some burn....

If the Chinese get to shut Yi down to rest for the Olympics then the Australians should get to shut Bogut down too; I don't think Andrew would actually listen to that request at all, but it's the principle of it ;)

I agree. Villanueva has been terrible lately. So has Yi but he's the future. You might as well go back to him as the starter and see if that can light a fire under him. It's not like taking Villanueva out of the starting lineup is going to do any harm to the team at this point.

 But everyone knows what they are getting in CV.
