Brickhouse killed us. 2-12 shooting and terrible defense. He got 31 minutes why?

I think he was surprised to be that wide open...and didn't realize what to do in time.

It seems that when Damp fouled out having Mags in would have helped. But we played down to the wire. Avery should start playing mags.

That would be too smart and could have potentially helped us today. Avery wouldn't want to take that risk.

great game to watchh, unfortunately with the worse ending for our mavs...
dirk was great in the 4th + ot and i liked the team's effort to keep the mavs in the game though dirk, stack and josh were not hitting an ocean in the first three quaters. then dirk took over, bad luck that the last one to tie it came up (way) short...
kobe was amazing, but come on avery, u can't have stack guarding the best offensive player in the world most of the 4th and ot... :noway:

I'm so sick and tired of this BS. The Mavs just played a great game on the road against arguably the top WC team, and this is the best you could freakin' contribute?

I swear, some of you just NEED one person to blame just so you don't have to actually think about anything. Jesus.

We got killed on the glass once Damp was gone. That's why we signed a backup center. There's absolutely no reason for Magloire not to have touched the floor in 3 games.

Good game guys, it's great how all these regular season games against the top tier teams are like a play-off atmosphere. IMO I'd actually favor you guys over teams like the Spurs/Jazz/Hornets. Dirk this game really showed me why he's an All-Star/MVP, having a craptacular game in the first 3 quarters and then just turning it on in the 4th/OT. Hope to see you guys in the play-offs, will make for a great series.

BTW- Kidd really is a difference maker, and regardless if he missed that ft he played excellent for you guys in the clutch. IE perfect set-up for Dirk to hit the game tying 3.

it sucks that we lost, but this team is legit. we just need to win some of these tough games at the wire like against SA and today.

and im liking the kidd trade more and more. he is still a superstar, enough said. he flat out makes things happen. although he did **** up tonight, but whatever.

It's funny how sensitive people get when someone other than Dirk is blamed for once.. :banghead:

I'm so with you 100%. It's not like our team has had a season to play with each other or an entire preseason. They've had two weeks. Magliore has had 5 days.

Our effort that we're putting on the floor is very encouraging. However, some individual performances really hindered us.

Josh Howard, I'm calling you out son.

Mavs always suck against the Lakers, so it makes me happy that we were even able to take this to overtime in Los Angeles. I am pretty confident that Josh and JET will find their shots again by playoff time

cavsfan_osiris wrote:Jeff Van Gundy highlighting the mismatch with Bass boxing out Kobe 1on1 then Kobe beating him to the rebound was uncanny.

If Mags had been given time in prior games we would have been able to play him as the center instead of Bass. Nothing against Bass he's a great player for what he is good at and I would definitely have used him instead of Howard at the 3 with Howard having so much trouble scoring lately, but Bass is not a center and Avery needs to figure this one out now not after we are bounced out of the PO's in the first round.

Magliore was an all star 2 years ago and is only 29 and according to Kidd the hardest working player on the nets. Magliore fumbling around is better than Bass at center and knowing what he is doing. That rebound would not have gone to Kobe and we would have had an opportunity to win the game but idiot Avery can't figure out what position to play people.

That play was Avery's fault pure and simple and all because he is too stuborn to play a decent center we have on the roster now that 2 years ago was an all star. If Mags comes on and contributes in the next few games then we know Avery is mentally defective for not having gotten him into this game or the Sac game to prepare him for this game.

It's real simple if your 7' then your a center unless you can hit shots from 3 pointland like Dirk in which case your the PF that has a SF/ SG game. 6'8" and your a SF / PF at most and by the way Dirk should not be used at center ever.

Dampier was made better by jason Kidd whats to say he doesn't make a Magliore better as well? I thought Pop's taught Avery a thing or 2 about using centers in San Antonio with TD and David but it looks like Avery is stuck in the Nelson tiny balls system and if that is the case we need a new coach.

That is my final decision he is not smart enough to use the players at their natural positions and it is costing us games so sooner or later Avery will not be the coach of the Dallas Mavericks and when Cuban realizes it he needs to have someone in mind to be the new coach so who do we go after?

I don't think avery is trying to make Bass into a center.. what he is trying to do is make him into a smallball power forward.

Everyone thinks it was Dirk that fauiled us in the playoffs.. it was actually Josh that failed as our smallball power forward. He rebounded well by his standards in that series.. but the way the Warriors were focused on blocking Dirk out with 3 or 4 guys Josh should have had a field day on the boards.

So it's no coincidence Bass replaced Howard tonight.. that's a direct result of the Warriors series, IMO.

I think artest would be a great smallball power forward next to Dirk.. too bad he's in our own conference or we could probably trade Josh for him.

Ok first off to have the game that close with that free throw discpreancy what it was I applaud our team.

I repeat Dirk has his swagger back and I love watching him with Kidd.

Will somone please tell Van Gundy it's Dampier not Dampy Ear. I hate when he calls the games.

Yet you seemed to blame Harris (or the PG) and his 28-11 play. Now, the 4-3 (0-3 against playoff teams) is acceptable soley because it's someone with a HOF history, Kidd. Not so HOF play now.

Avery was the problem before and you blame Harris. Avery is still the problem and you still ignore the root of our problems.

BTW, we REALLY missed Diop today when damp was not in.
