The Mavs Are Legit

Post#1 » by Taiwan Killa » Sun Mar 2, 2008 11:53 pm

The Mavs are just wicked nasty. Sure they lost today but they're still getting used to eachother and Kobe was hitting shots that you can't defend any better.

IMO they're either the deepest or 2nd deepest team in the leauge. They got Kidd creating easy shots, Dampier is a tough guy. Dirk the MVP of course. Jason Terry is an amazing scorer. And heck I didn't even mention all star Josh Howard or a former 6th man of the year Stackhouse. They got the experience and as a Laker fan I gotta say I'm scared. The Mavs, Spurs, and Lakers are IMO the top tier in the West at this point.

They are good but we didn't have Bynum.

I think Kidd has been missing low post offense. Kidd to the lakers would have not been bad either if we kept Bynum.

They're very good but they still get absolutely burned by elite guards. They couldn't stop Kobe, they could only foul....same thing that happened to them in 06 finals with Wade, or with Baron last year.

Josh Howard played an absolute garbage game. He's much better than that. If he would played near decent, the Mavs could of won for sure.

But it's true, once Bynum's back, there's no reason why the Lakers won't be clearly better than the Mavs.

The Mavs are definitely a top 4 team in the West, but I think it will be very hard for them to beat the Lakers, Spurs, and maybe even the Hornets, in a playoffs series. GS as well.

i dont buy the lakers as the elite team. on offense, they still rely almost entirely on Kobe.

but yeah the mavs are legit. Kidd was getting WAYY underrated before he actually played a game with the mavs. he is still a superstar in his older age. his court vision and "floor general-ness" are what built his reputation. those traits don't diminish with age.

Not true at all, they get EVERYONE involved in the triangle offense. Of course today was just one of those days where Kobe is just really feelin it and scores a bunch but if you watched the lakers since the arrival of Gasol, then you would know they dont rely heavily on kobe at all.

Kobe is Kobe. He's clearly making it his mission to take the MVP this season. It'll be between him and Lebron. Perhaps Paul ... but I doubt Paul has a legit chance. He's young, got many years yet, and his team hasn't had playoff success.

I don't see how that could stop you from being an elite team, it just means there an intelligent team.

i guarantee u if the cavs had kobe and lebron, the whole team would rely almost entirely on kobe.

the mavs would rely almost entirely on kobe
the rockets would rely almost entirely on kobe
the hornets
jazz
all would rely almost entirely on kobe...

if you have a player like him, the whole organisation tends to rely on that player.

the only other team that wouldnt be probably be the spurs.

if the lakers had never ever had kobe, i can also gaurantee you that they would be a legit playoff team, only because they wouldnt be "use to" relying on only one good player
regardless of the lakers, mavs, spurs, suns, etc having their one best player or not, they still would make cases of being a decent basketball team.

hell they were dominating us in the 1st Q w/the P'n"R with kobe and gasol

No they don't tonight Phil went to Gasol too. Plus I'm sure they'll go to Bynum too if he's healthy when he comes back.

Yo this is about Mavs not lakers. Kidd is definitely helping the mavs on transition offense but I think Mavs are missing some things harris would do like taking a charge and penetrate.

I have them third behind San Antonio and the Lakers. I also believe that there is a drop off after the big 3.

I agree. the kidd tarde has helped them more than i thought it would. he has really opened up their game, even he isn't as quick as harris was. also dampier is playing far better than i ever thought he could.

when the playoffs begin and dallas has the unlucky pleasure of dealing with one of the lightning fast guards in the first round Kidd will get exposed!!!

the mavericks are still trying to find their groove. so it is up in the air if theyre legit or not. theyre not trying to be a legit good team. theyre trying to be a legit "CHAMPIONSHIP" team. and they are not that.

at this point, they have legit losses to the LAKERs, spurs and forgot who else. and again, theyre not trying to be a legit good team. but a legit championship team.

so "LEGIT" they are not!

Yeah, I think fans around the leauge are downplaying how important Harris was to this team. Kidd is definatly a better passing PG, but we lose more in the trade talent wise than we got back. The difference is that Dirk and Dampier are finally playing like the regular season means something. If they did that through the first 53 games we would be so far in 1st place that Boston would be looking up to us.

Even before the Kidd to Dallas trade, the Mavs were legit. But if you are saying that they are the best team in the league, then I guess you're wrong. I have the Lakers, Celts and the Spurs ahead of the Mavs.
