Garrity?

Seriously though ask some Cavs fans about Newble...They all want him back...Hes one of their best defenders.

Also Jeff is an upgrade over Arroyo

David Aldridge says that the Magic are interested in Newble for his defense and do have slight interest in Lue, although the Suns and Mavs will most likely be the teams he decides between...

Newble would be a nice pickup for the rest of the season, he does play hard and he plays good defense...when he plays when a good passes, he seems to find his way down low fairy easily...and he's not the worst shooter...

Nelson/Dooling/Arroyo
Evans/Bogans/JJ
Hedo/Newble
Shard/Cook
Dwight/Foyle/Gortat

decent playoff roster if guys step up...

Who would the Magic waive to make room for another player? Certainly not Garrity!

Nobody gets waived because so many contracts are expiring.

Carlos Arroyo
Pat Garrity
Keyon Dooling
Maurice Evans
James Augustine

... all of the books come the year's end. Garrity and Augustine will not be resigned. And only two of the other three are likely to be inked (dependent on other FA signees).

If the Magic wan to add another player this season they would have to waive a player to comply with the 15 player roster rule. However, because of Battie's injury this season the Magic are allowed a 16 men roster. Anyways, they would have to waive a player to keep the roster at 16 if they sign somebody this season.

If the discussion is about the Magic signing a FA this season (I previously assumed the discussion was the coming off season), then this is the current roster.

Jameer Nelson, Carlos Arroyo, Maurice Evans, Keyon Dooling , J.J. Redick, Hedo Turkoglu, Keith Bogans, Rashard Lewis, Brian Cook, Pat Garrity, Tony Battie, Dwight Howard, Adonal Foyle, James Augustine, Marcin Gortat.

That's 15 Magicians.

Someone correct me if Im wrong but the second we play our last game Arroyo, Dooling and Evans become URFA. We will be over the cap with only the MLE and various other LLE. We will have no money to sign them. We need all 5.5 mil of the MLE to fill holes in our roster. As such we will have to resign or more accurately extend Dooling and Arroyo if not also Evans before the last game because we will not have enough money to sign them due to the fact that they will demand more than LLE money.

If I were the agent for any of those three I would alredy have Otis on the phone demanding between 4.5 and 6 mil for at least 2 - 3 years depending on the player.

I believe we will still be slightly under the cap, at least enough to resign Dooling and Evans.

Arroyo can go play globetrotters for all i care.

The MLE should be used on one player or this offseason goes down the pooper.

We don't need the MLE or cap space to resign KeDo or MoE. Pretty sure we have rights on them.

It's based on his contract not on his tenure.

In fact, iirc, he could have signed 3 successive 1 year contracts and then be traded and the rights would be still be there.
