alright this is what i was thinking about, the MIP award ballot says the MIP award "is designed to honor an up-and-coming player"

is Hedo, up and coming?

Usually the MIP award is given to a player that was previously below average that moves to average-to-above-average.

What is not typical is going from average to very-good-to-great as a path to the award.

But if the step in improvement is the same, then why not?

What is key here is that Turkoglu's improved play has translated into wins. Voting members love wins.
