With Yao playing I think Rox can play with any team in the league and has a good chance of going real deep in the playoff.

With Yao out, making playoff is a feat, and any success after that would be half a miracle.

But Rox will make the playoff IMO.

Yeah I saw that all-star talk about Landry in the Landry thread before... calm down with that, please.

Honestly i think we match up good with them the only team in the West that i'm worried about match up wise is L.A. i feel every other team we can beat honestly the offense is top notch and the defense is still good i for one am shocked but even if we just manage to get out of the first round of the playoffs then imagine what the offense will look like next year when Yao comes back

With yao, i would have liked our chances because he regulary has good games, but we dont have anyone who can make duncan work on defense. i think there a nightmare matchup for us. ginobolli is a tough matchup for us to.

I still think the Lakers are the team to beat. Hopefully them and SA end up in the same half of the playoffs!

With the Bonzi trade we did a few things that will help us now and in the future.
It wasn't a bad trade.
We improved our defense , finnaly have a good backup behind Alston , added a shooter and maybe the most important thing put ourselves in a very good position to acquire a good player from a bad team next season with expiring contracts.
We improved our future and didn't get worse.
Losing Bonzi will hurt our rebounding and maybe scoring a little bit , but he was playing lazy defense and wasn't a great fit next to Yao and T-Mac because he can't shoot.

IMO against Lakers or Spurs we don't have any chance , against Dallas and PHX we have a chance but not very good.
Against NO or Utah we have a very decent shot at winning a series.

Everyone thought you guys had the team to win it last year. The point is, T-Mac isn't going to bring you past the first round. Every season Rockets fans think "This is the year!" Whatever.

With Scola and Landry and an Adelman offense, the Rockets are much improved than last year.

For how great Kobe is, he has won zero playoff series without Shaq. Putting the sole blame on Tmac is unfair, especially considering his playoff numbers are outstanding. Why isnt Kobe held to the same standard?

It's mainly because, for better or worse, TMac has a comparable big man that has a devastating impact as well while attempting the playoffs. Yao never got a chance to fully recover last year heading to the playoffs, years b4 that he was still an amateur and the role players sucked too much. This year would have been the year but damn... We have the pieces with Yao we could possibly surpise and devestate. Yao doesn't play timid unless he's hiding a severe injury. The big man's presence alone alters shots and changes mindsets. Without any major pain, I believe Yao has learned and achieved enough experience to put on total havoc.

You add, Scola, Landry and the improvements our guys have come to and we could win it all bar none. Too bad that stress fracture happened. One thing to note is, this could have all been prevented if we played Mutombo a little more, then again who knew Mutombo had as much as he does left in the tank?

No way they lose all four games, the Jazz have slowed down considerably and the Suns have been bad lately, What makes you think that a team that has won 15 in a row, 24 of 27 is just gonna fall apart, they blew out the hornets and blew out the Nuggets, they at worse are gonna split those games.

"would","could" wont work in the playoffs and injury is always an easy but lame excuse for Yao.

The facts are:

-------forget it---------, get well Yao.

it is time for TMAC to win because he got Scola.

Umm...you mean the NUGGETS are about to go on a 4 game losing streak?

Houston's next 4 games are:

Pacers
@Mavs
Hornets
NJ

We'll probably lose some of those, but you got the wrong team bud.

while the o.p. is totally right in his assessment that prematurely writing off the rockets is wrong...

..so too is annointing them anything is being very premature as well...

as a diehard laker fan who bleeds purple and gold, annointing the lakers as wcf championships is way preamature too...

it makes for good conversation, but its month 4 of the nba season part 1, and my oh my how **** will change in a month especially in the west...

the only thing i count on is that san antonio will be there and be a force..everything else in the west can and most likely will be shaken up...

I told everyone in the Yao thread that Shane Battier was going to bring the pain. He is, Shane Battier is a bad mofo and cannot be stopped. He is a winner, it isn't a coincidence that Memphis has been garbage since he left...
