Anyone else hoping Detroit gets the number 1 seed?

As good as this team can be I am afraid with our inconsistencies about who we play in the 1st round

I wouldn't bet money on it.

Magic have struggled vs teams with high end PG's all year. Everyone else we hold our own against. And if Brown steals minutes from Perkins/Powe/Davis color me not that disappointed.

It's not a diss against Boston, we just match up better vs them IMO.

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

I think we could potentially take Boston to 6 or 7 games, but I have a hard time seeing how we can last more than 5 games against Detroit. I definitely would rather see Boston in the 2nd round(assuming we make it) over Detroit.

it's really not even worth debating, imo.

if it's the postseason, i'd rather play the team that has doc rivers as it's coach.

especially if the alternative is playing a team that's been handing us our asses for more than half a decade.

i would. there must be some pretty high odds against us, meaning a hefty return if we won.

i'm talking like $100 here. not the whole farm, which you're talkin about.

Yes because we match up better with Boston and IMO I would rather meet them in the 2nd round than the Pistons.

I believe the Magic are going to win their 1st round matchup no matter who they face because they will be in that 3rd seed.

Between the 87/88 season and the 89/90 season, the Chicago Bulls lost each year to the Pistons. They where the hurdle to be cleared to achieve greatness.

The Magic have a target goal, and a bully to overtake to reach that goal.

I hope the Magic meet the Pistons in the second round. If a couple of games can be won, then this is a good growth experience for the young Magic.

BTW: in 90/91 the Bulls also met the Pistons and defeated them!

But a few things you should know about the matchup from a Detroit fans perspective. Hedo can absolutely destroy the Pistons, he is too strong for Tayshaun and gets into the paint easily against him. That pick and roll the Magic were running for Turk killed Detroit the last few games. Hopefully the addition of Ratliff as a shotblocker can help protect the paint a little bit against the likes of Hedo and Dwight.

And that brings me onto Dwight- this kids a beast. Sure- Sheed, Dice and Davis helped contain him last year but that was Howards first time in the playoffs and he has probably grown from that experience. In addition, Detroit plays Jason Maxiel far too much and there is no hope at all that Maxi will be able to contain him and Dwight will also overpower Amir Johnson easily as well. Once again the signing of Theo might help slow down Dwight (fouling him constantly) but I think on the whole Dwight may be too much to handle for Detroit.

In any case, Detroit is hoping that they remain the 2 seed because Cleveland will either be the 4th or 5th seed and Pistons like their chances against the Magic or Raps a little bit better than they do against the Cavs

C'mon now....Don't try to fool us. Look at all the names of bigs you threw out there: Sheed, Dice, Maxiell, Ratliff, Johnson. That's 30 fouls. And the Magic have....Dwight. He is really good, but he's only one man. They (and Chauncey) are the reason that the Pistons play so well against the Magic.

I know they have injuries, but I don't see the Wizards falling off the map.

Lots of talk about second round. First round is no picnic. Especially if Cleveland or Toronto pass the Magic in record. Then its possible they could face one of them in the first round.

I see short series with either one. Perhaps before I would have taken Boston. Now with Cassell and PJ Brown they are deep enough to throw a ton of players at Dwight.

Yeah, I'm with everyone else, I don't even want to assume we get past round one. We haven't done that in 12 years.

But hypothetically, yeah I'd just assume play a very old Boston Celtics team. we could potentially run those guys into heart attacks (just kidding), but that could be an issue, the Magic are younger and are all starting to hit prime years, and after a long season the Celtics may just run out of gas.

Detroit would wake up in the playoffs and beat the Magic, although I do think we can take em to 6 now. Boston is a team we may be able to upset, even with Brown and Cassells additions.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Funny that the Bulls-Pistons comparison comes up. Because just like our Piston matchup, the Bulls finally beat Detroit due to their aging.

This Piston team isn't getting younger and we've already beat them twice this season. :)

Food for thought.

why is that?? boston and detriot are seperated by what 3 games? boston hasnt pwned us for ever... we match up better against boston also... so i think what everyone is saying is that youre statement is false.

were gonna have a heck of a time getting out of the first round but if we are fortunate enough to do so i would much rather see boston than detriot...
Summertime and the livin's easy....
