Jiri Welsch was enough for me.. Who cares if we have foreign guys or not? Why don't you just start a thread on Scal's intangibles instead..

Well, if you recall, the interest in Nowitzki was there. But, it became a matter of just missing out on an opportunity to select him. You either trade up (Boston tried for Gasol) or hope that that player will last by the time your chance to select comes. For Boston, it didn't come for Nowitzki. If I remember correctly, Dallas placed a call to Milwaukee to have them draft Dirk for them. Not sure why Boston didn't attempt a similar deal with a team selecting higher if they'd suspected this could happen. So, Pierce was the selection. Still, Pierce and Nowitzki might have been the top two picks in the first round in 1998. So, Boston was fortunate regardless.

The one issue as far as a bias that is clear is that Ainge has no use for Euro bigs. The European game makes their big men essentially big guards and that is something that Ainge has stated and showed he has a bias against. Obviously we have had interest in different players at different times and he has pursued some guys.

I think as we saw this season with Varejao and Pavlovic, as well as the kid the Magic drafted a couple of years back, another concern for teams even investing draft picks overseas. That the money and lure to go home can eliminate the leverage and control teams can have over these players in restricted FA.

What will ever become of players such as Josip Sesar and Albert Miralles? Boston owns their rights but it doesn't seem imminent that either will be joing the Celtics any time soon.

LOL, don't even worry about it guys. Don't get it wrong its great to have diversity on the team but its not like Internationals = success.

When we traded Delfino the Pistons there wasn't a player that wasn't black. Then again i'm sure theres more desirable places for the foreigners than Detroit.

Really? I think KG's game isn't to far off from Gasol's and KG is kinda like a really really good Euro big man..
