Question: How does FIBA or NBA not suspend Darko Milicic

(Once again did a search but no topic about it came up)

My question is this. How in GODS name does Darko not get suspended by the NBA or FIBA for comments like this He made to reporters after the game?

I thought the NBA had the right to suspend players for offcourt conduct that reflects poorly on the league.
Further still how does FIBA not suspend him from a huge number of games? I mean seriously ... hes talking about the refs to reporters after a game. Hes not at some party just joking around with friends.

I know, its last year, I just heard about it on a Detroit radio show discussing NBA players. Searched with various tag lines but couldn't find any real-gm thread discussing it so I think a discussion about it now wouldn't hurt.

thats a good question, what he said was beyond offensive. i think there was an article about memphis punishing him as well but the actual punishments were never made public.

Can we actually confirm that he said what was on the subtitles? The whole time I felt like we were being duped.

He got a big fine, i don't know if a big suspension is even in FIBAs authority when it comes to international play, and also the subs on that youtube video are wrong half the time he still says offensive stuff but not as offensive as rape and such.

Enlighten us to what he said then. Not saying your a liar, just that your slovenian and may be biased to *downplay* what he actually said.

He says he's gonna **** the officials, **** their mother, daughter... (i think he didn't exactly use the word rape, but you get the picture)
I have plenty of expiriences with yugoslavian sports, just like you Alyosha, and I never heard anyone saying something like that, the most offensive rant I ever heard.
I can't watch atm (again), but I'd say whatever they wrote in subtitles is doing him injustice. The use of his words was surely worse.

I can, he said what you read there. Of course to a forigner it seems that what he says is much stronger then it really is.

Well saying **** you is a lot more common then saying ill rape you and ur family right, still very bad and despicable but not as crazy, still crazy though, don't get me wrong i am not defending him i am just saying he wasn't translated correctly

He said something along the lines of f@ck the refs those pussies, f@ck them and their family something along those lines,

Its really hard to explane most of it, as there are no curse words in English that match lol, and the Serbian and Bosnian language is very rich in curse words, as silly as that sounds.

Still not downplaying it i am just that he was wrongly translated,
for example jebat cu ti mater - word for word means i'll fawk ur mother and as outlandish and stupid that sound its something people that are stupid and angry say in serbia just like in the US you would say eh go fawk ur mother is also used at times.
Pičke - the word he used a lot of the time is translated into pussie but is used in Serba a lot if not most of the time to paint someone as a cowered etc.

He still should have been punished much much harder then he was may be even banned from playing, but all i am saying is you just can't translate curse words and saying into another language at will, you have to use the curse word similar in use in that language.
He is still a d1ck and an @ss for saying it and i have always hated his guts, and said he is the most irritating overrated stupid player with no offensive game what so ever, the sad thing is he thinks he has game which makes me hate him even more, but still he was badly translated.
I'll give translating it a go:

no, no it was accurate, word for word it was, i am just saying you can't translate word for word or else you get a babblefish translation, especially with curse words.

I mean it translated as i will fawk the refs FFS who would say that, of course no one would. It translates into fawk em wich sounds a lot more normal but i will fawk em was transalted and what he said WORD FOR WORD and how it is said in Serbain but it would be better to translate it into "i will fawk'em up", or "fawk em", those would be the logical translations.
