anyone could replace Avery. What's spoecial about him? What has he accoomplished? Everything he accomplished he accomplished through riding Dirk. Who couldn't do that?

So you get someone to ride Dirk only this person doesn't bench Kidd at the end of the game. Or run ISOs every play. heck.. bring Del harris back. he'd be better.

Ideally though I would like to see Donnie or Westphal with Dirk's German coach as the assistant coach to run the offense.. Avery is the worst coach for Dirk because he would have never drafted Dirk if he was in charge.. by that same logic Dirk's german coach Holger could very well be the best guy to coach Dirk because he built Dirk and discovered him. I think Dirk's German coach might even be able to utilize Dirk better than Don Nelson... either way.. no one could be worse than Avery.

Accomplishment? Remember Avery brought the team to the final. Last season Dallas did lost to GS but don't forget Dallas did have impressive 60 wins.

as I said before, I think avery is a great motivator, but he is not a good coach.
it seems that avery has lost the trust and respect by some of his players and I dont think he can even motivate them anymore. so I agree with pootie by saying that ANYBODY would be a better coach for this mavs team right now. I'd like to see donnie or westphal take over but that is just not very realistic being already in march...
so I guess I have to go on with avery at least for the rest of this season.

I think it's the exact opposite. I don't think he is a good motivator at all. i don't think he is a good game coach. But I do think he is a great instructional coach (AKA assistant).

nah I think he reached this team when he took over 3 years ago with his speech, his fire and desire. now that is long gone, he never stands up to his mistakes and rather prefers to blame someone else (most times dirk). his magic is gone and there is nothing left which shows that he is a good coach. what kind of offense did he bring? whats his system? i dont see it. has he ever adjusted to in-game situations?
so I dont think he is a good coach

Getting rid of Avery now is silly. Shouldnt we have kept Devin if we were gonna do that?

I would take Larry brown.. but I would only take him after talking to him and seeing what he felt about Dirk.. I would test the waters and throw some stuff out to Brown about "turning Dirk into a post player" and see what Larry brown said.. if he started talking crazy talk.. Darko Milicic kind of stuff then it's over. But if he starts praising dirk and talking about how great he is and how Avery underutilized Dirk then it's on..

I forgot one major problem with Larry Borwn.. I think Cuban and Brown hate each other.. they had a beef in the media in the past. Even Donnie and Brown had a beef in the Olympics one time too. Donnie made some comment about American basketball when they were struggling in the Olympic qualifying events and Brown was the team USA coach took offense to it. This is probably why we have never heard Larry Brown to dallas rumors..
