OT:Trevor Ariza injury worse than expected...

Post#1 » by theTHIEF » Mon Mar 3, 2008 4:47 pm

Listening to XM and they were saying that Bynum might not make it back until early April and Ariza MIGHT not make it back, but if he did it would be in the playoffs...Apparently the injury is worse than they expected and the Lakers might want him to have surgery...

sucks...

edit: they said that the team doctors were labeling the Ariza injury as "abnormal"

It is strange that they used the word "abnormal" to describe Ariza's foot. And there were whispers and rumors of potentialy serious long term foot problems when he was part of the Magic, going back to the start of last year. There has to be something to that.

He passed a physical... so even if it was something that was in the past, it's the Laker's problem.

I liked the trade when it was made, and I like it now still. Ariza getting hurt doesn't change my view of it.

No offense man but how hard is it to pass a physical? And Ariza was relatively healthy at the time. He was playing and looked fine.

Sucks for him, I like Trevor a lot as a basketball player with his energy and hustle. Anyways, if the injury is serious, the Lakers can just let him walk, since he's a free agent.

This is contrary to what they were saying during the Laker game last night. They said the boot was coming off at the end of March and he'd be able to play in early April.

yea they did say something like that at the game yesterday...so maybe they got the boot off and there is still some issues?

and the abnormal thing i think was in relation to the healing, not the injury itself...the healing was abnormal...

When you're talking about world class doctors and millions of dollars, I would expect them to conduct a complete physical. So they should have spotted it.

i thought physicals were just like the ones you get from doctors

well it depends on what the teams want in the physical, most physicals involve blood test, running on the treadmill hooked up to the machines with the respirator for 30 minutes...they take x-rays of knows areas of injury...they have you run some sets on the court...do some jumping exercises...and i think now they are taking chest x-rays on all players because the recent heart problems...
