looking at road attendance

okay, boston and the lakers are #'s 1 and 2. denver with superstars iverson and carmelo is okay at #3. but NEW YORK is #4?????? CHARLOTTE is #6??????

maybe these are anomalies caused by them not playing the bad home draws yet. the suns are at #5 and will certainly overtake the knicks after getting shaq.

other than that the rest of the top ten is cleveland, miami, dallas, and san antonio and detroit at #11 and houston at #12????? that's about right IMO

i would think #15 orlando and #16 golden state would be higher up, with dwight howard and baron davis becoming certifiable superstars this year.

#28 washington would probably be higher up with gilbert arenas.

but here's the shocker

the #30 NEW ORLEANS HORNETS

perhaps we haven't played the good home draws yet

but why should we be expected to see our team when no one else wants to????????? very puzzling

Most teams package their 5 or 10 game packs with teams that aren't... um good.

this might be a better way to look at it

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/attendanc ... asonType=2

sorted by percent capacity instead of by total number of fans, as that offsets skewing from teams playing in smaller arenas. That drops NY a bit, but they're still pretty high. I guess a lot of people like seeing train wrecks.

I'm sure the Raps fans have an excuse cooked up for this one.

the knicks may be higher up, because people want to see their team destroy them. duh.

In the Knicks case, people are going to see the once great player turned disaster coach/gm that is Isiah Thomas.

Bad opponents = cheaper tickets = more attendance?

Just throwing out possible reasons.

How is miami 100% in home attendance? That is one of the emptiest stadiums whenever they are on tv. You figure TV games are the better games too so who even knows how bad it gets when they aren't on tv.

I think they go by ticket sales, not the actual number of people who show up. So in the case of the Heat, they probably sold out the season before it started.

Why would Raptors fans care if Americans don't want to watch the Raptors?

You seem to be a Philly fan. Not sure you're the guy who should be throwing stones.

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

But then why are certain "bad" teams in the top ten and others in the cellar?

 Thanks, I wasn't aware that the sixers had paltry home attendance.

People fail to realize how many New Yorkers there are all across the world. Whenever the Knicks go on the road, even though they suck they still have tons of knick fans that go to the games. It is sad, but our team could lose 74 games in a season and we would still be in the top half for attendence even with the probably highest or 2nd highest tickets in the league depending on how much Laker tickets are.

This is why Dolan doesn't give a **** about how bad we stink, because we are still sadly the most valuable franchise in the league.

This is why you hear Fire Isiah chants on the road, Knicks fans at the games start them and get the opposing teams fans to join in.
