Top 20.. and there's only 30 NBA teams.. hmmm.. lol

I know the list including back ups.. but beno is a starter, but I think he should be a back up pg.

I think he is, he can be a starter, and most likely will be. He isnt bad, hes shown signs that he can be a good point guard.

C. Billups T. Ford J. Calderon G. Arenas A. Miller
D. Harris M. Bibby K. Hinrich M. Williams R. Felton
T. Parker C. Paul D. Williams S. Nash J. Kidd
B. Davis
- 16 are better without question

And then it is a question
R. Rondo, J. Nelson, D. West, J. Tinsley, S. Marbury, J. Williams
D. Fischer, S. Blake, S. Cassell, L. Ridnur, M. Conley, R. Foye

Possibly in the top 20, around 19-20 range without question, but maybe in the top 20.

lol, just shows how bad some team's pg are

I think Telfair is a decent PG.

His stats when starting are quite good:

PPG: 13,8 (15th among 42 PGs in the NBA, that have at least 10 starts this season)
APG: 5,1 (26th)
REB: 3,6 (9th)
STL: 1,14 (24th)
TO: 2,5 (11th)

Stats-wise he is among top 20, especially because I think that he would produce at least 7 assist on a different team (or in Sacramento next year). Since Bibby was traded, Udrih is averaging 6,5 APG.

He's too inconsistent. When his jumper isnt falling he needs to be more of a playmaker.

Regardless if he is a borderline top 20 player or not, he's simply not good enough.
Our team will go nowhere with beno as our starting PG. We need a top 10 PG. Simple enough.

Now, if only Miller was traded, or Moore not signed, we would have been able to make a run at Calderon.

You have really got to be the most negative, over-reactive, "the sky is falling" Kings fan, and not to mention poorest judge of talent, to even think there is a "question" that Beno is better than these guys. Williams, maybe...now that he is healthy. But the rest should not even be mentioned in the same breath.

I simply listed every starter PG in the league, along with TJ Ford because he should be a starter. Oh add Barbosa to the mix, forgot about him.

16 clearly ahead of him
Add Barbosa Add Williams, and that puts Beno 18 at best. Exactly around where i said.

I would say he is in the 15 to 20 area now. I think Beno has an upside that has not been displayed yet. He really had not played regulary until this year.

Considering what Petrie gave up to get Beno I think he may be the 2nd best steal of the year. Gasol is the first of course :D

Well i know this is a silly question, but i'm just a euro fanboy so here goes:

what if Beno plays like he has been playing the past 3 games for the rest of the season averaging 20pts 7assists 5rebs could he become top 15 PG, or is that just out of reach for him?

20/7/5 is definitely Top-15 PG.

There were times where PG's like Tony Parker and Steve Nash were inconsistent in the beginning stages of their careers. Tony Parker didn't become an elite PG until he got a consistent jump shot. Beno plays at a high level some of the time, and he's going to turn 26 this year so I can see the development. Also since Bibby has been traded he's playing more like this is his team and not he's only filling in.

I can see where someone could make the connection that he has the potential to be a top 20 pg. Really though that's not saying too much since there are 30 starting PG's in the league and you're better than less than half...

I'd like to see him create more for others. I'd like to see our coach give him the ability to create more for others.

Bottom line tough Beno probably won't play this well the rest of the way but I'm becoming a fan!

Grant and Jerry were talking about this during the game last night. Right now he is being directed by Theus to take the ball to the rack whenever he can. Theus wants Beno to create for himself first. I hope the idea is that as Beno becomes more prolific at creating for himself through penetration, that he will draw defenders to him and end up creating open looks for others.

My only real concern with Beno all season has been with his ball handling abilities. He often has a hard time keeping the ball under control, which typically leads to unforced turnovers or broken plays. He seems to be getting better with the ball in his hands. But I think his ability to maintain control over the ball is the line he has to cross to move from bottom 15 to top 15.
