I know this is a little harsh for a sport's fan forum but why should someone place a goal like a championship above his happiness?
Competitive traits in human psyche are sad when taken to the extreme...
i already made a reply and i think it was misunderstood...
i have no problem for him to place his happiness above a championship. my problem is that he was perfectly happy to sign a big contract for a contender, but then he wasnt happy to play for them. you cant have it both ways, plain and simple.
its the same as when a franchise player on a crappy team says "i really want to win, if only they could get me some help" when his contract equals 40% of the team budget. if you signed that deal to be the man, then be the man and live with the consequences.
so back to larry, he'd rather be have fun and be happy? great. but dont blame cleveland for having a serious team, blame yourself for making a bad decision and signing there.

Cavs fans called Larry Hughes a bum and the worst player in the NBA, most other fans wondered why in the world the Cavs signed Hughes to the giant contract they did when his game wasn't going to mesh well with Lebron's.

I haven't read all 9 pages but some reactions here have made me go
He's absolutely right about what he says. If you don't enjoy what you're doing, there's no reason to do it. And as they say, the journey is more important than winning. So if you enjoy yourself, that's more important than winning a championship.

Do you ever know what you are talking about when you make these comments? I don't know a single cavs fans that said he was the worst in the nba. The only problem most Cavs fans had with Hughes was the amount that we paid him. That's not even his fault. If you'd notice, we were not normally the ones that were acting desperate to move Hughes. While his contract was awful, he did quite a few good things for the Cavs. It was primarily non Cavs fans that bashed Hughes constantly. No he wasn't a good fit next to LeBron, but his perimeter defense was very handy for us most of the time. It was Hughes that actually made the Cavs less desperate to try to get a point guard which was also a reason that you saw most Cavs fans being against many of the terrible trades suggested on this site.

Damn, poor LeBron. The closest thing he's ever had to "side kick" reveals that he was bored and didn't give a sh*t about winning, lmao. This is why LeBron is my MVP, because he's carried pus$ies like this his whole career.
Hughes was able to "chuck" in Washington, and look how much they accomplished in that era, NOT A DAMN THING. He signs with Cleveland (where he will OBVIOUSLY have to sacrifice a little, although his numbers in a Cavs uniform basically mirror his career numbers) and finds himself in the FINALS! HMMMMM....
Maybe Mike Brown should have drew up more plays for Hughes to watch him shoot 35% to ensure that poor wittle Warry was having fun. Then the Cavs could get great lottery picks like the rest of Larry's past teams!!! Hey at least Larry wouldn't be bored... What a puss...
Hughes played in 18 career playoff games in 7 seasons prior to joining LeBron's squad, in the past 2 postseason he's played in 27 playoff games (would be even more if he wasn't so soft and getting injured every 3 games).
Maybe the playoffs are what bored Mr. Hughes, he had to get out of that situation and back on a ball club that suits his strengths, SUCKING. At least he'll be able to start his Summer vacation early and not have to worry about playing boring ole team basketball. He'll have time to get more tats while not working a bit on his horrid jumpshot.
He's a disgrace to the sport IMO.
But you know what they say, "Girls just wanna have FUH-UN! Oh girls just wanna have FUN!"...

I definitely recall non-cavs fans calling him the worst. The topic of "who's the worst - Hughes or Jason Collins?" has been brought up in many threads. I believe there were even a few threads started on it.

Don't get me wrong there were definitely some people who called Hughes the worst player in the NBA and were not Cavs fans but at least to me the overwhelming majority of posters calling Hughes "the worst player in the NBA" or "a bum" seemed to be Cavs fans who were disappointed in his production / inability to completely change his game around in order to fit Mike Brown's offensive "strategy".

Tim Hardaway said he hated a group of people. That's completely different.

I wouldn't want him on my team because he sucks. Not because of anything he has ever said. And would you still want LeBron on your team if he said the same thing?
And on another note, it's amazing how many people are misreading his quote. Oh well.

Or maybe, they're the type of people who don't sweat the small stuff and know that being happy is better than some nonsense. Championchips are cool and all but it's all parlor talk. Personal happiness transcends dumb things like sports accolades. Sports are supposed to be something that MAKES you happy.
