and the odom defenders come out like i knew they would....
yah we won the freeken game dont get me i wrong im happy as hell!
my point is that alot of us here cant stand odoms boneheaded plays anymore... if it doesnt bother you, congrats! you have high tolerance for stupidity!
but odom has done so many boneheaded things that i cant overlook it and be ok with it, yeah the guy works hard and fills up the sheet with numbers but sometimes his stats can just be thrown out the window cus he balances it all out with a low IQ play... and cmon i dont even wanna talk about all the stupid things he has done you all can see that for yourselves. Im not saying he has to be perfect but please dont be in denial odom defenders. You all know hes always doing something dumb.
Thats what makes me uneasy about him... what if yesteraday was WCF game 7? now you see how his bad decisions come into play and how the situation is magnified even more..
once again im going to attribute his plays on the court to his attitude. We all know how non chalant odom is... from smiling during critical free throws to his so unintelligent interviews (seems like he is talking to a friend rather than being interviewed on tv) some 1 said after my post that kobes killer attitude is what makes him unique.. im not saying that kobe plays mad, but the man is an assasin and is out to win solid. Why cant lamar be serious like kobe and have a more ice cold approach?
this is y odom wasnt able to be 2nd option. Its not that he wasnt capable
of doing it, its cus I think he didnt want it and he was too scared too step up.
But blah blah blah, we are always just gonna be going in circles arguing about odom, what can i do but just voice out my opinion and continue cheering for his ass! so with that i say go lamar! and cut down on the boneheaded plays! woohoo!

I saw a guy who hustled everywhere all night, played great D. At some point Dirk just went off, but not for bad D. I saw a guy who is one of only 13 players to avg double double's this year work hard all night. He pissed me off with those freethrows, but who cares why he smiled, he wants to win, he's not perfect and he's in it with us for the year.

Lamar has been playing great since Gasol has arrived. He has less pressure on him and it shows. Lamar is not a great free throw shooter anyways. He is shooting about 72% and for his career I think he is just above 69%. A big reason for our hot streak the last few weeks is because of Lamar. Why everyone wants to down grade Lamar is beyond me. The guy is a walking triple douple. He is one of the best rebounders in the game but doesn't average the 13 boards a game because we have other good rebounders around him that grab some off those boards. Mitch held on to Lamar just like he held on to Bynum because Lamar is a difference maker. He has made a huge difference and come Western Conference Finals when we are playing the Spurs he is going to be a huge factor.

Im sure it was something said between he and kobe. He made the one that counted and all the drama and adversity we went through this game will make us better for the playoffs since this kind of s*** happens in those games.
I have been a pro-trade odom ONLY for the right pieces but not a basher and now that we have gasol I wouldnt move lamar unless we still got the right peice. He does what is needed NOW that he is not called to be second option.
Mistakes will happen on the court and EVERY player is gonna be affected by that (Didnt luke airball one of his first shots?). Not everyone deals with pressure the same way and if smiling gave him a better chance at hitting the last shot rather than cussing himself out then whatever is better.
I would love to have lamar back for the RIGHT PRICE when his contract is up but more than likely I see us using his expiring to make another splash, but maybe management just divies up that contract to re-sign our own guys while leveling out odoms money for his contributions.
All in all WE WON.......I love the DRAMA.

one thing that i was incredibly unhappy about during the game and people continued to harp over in this thread is odom choosing not to give up the ball and letting himself get fouled again. looking back i liked that he wanted to go back to the line and redeem himself. he only made 1 of 2 but at least he didn't shy away.

The smiling after missing the free throws does not bother me that much. It was a nervous smile and Kobe was talking a lot of smack.
He has been playing a lot better. I was dissappointed in his rebounding and defense on Sunday against the Mavs.
If he only would stop shooting 3s, play solid D and rebound better, he will be great for us. He also needs to take the ball to the hole more. He does not have a good outside shot and he insists on taking 3s. That bothers me more than smiling after missed throws.

He is shooting less 3s (He shouldn't shoot any IMO)but he is still not driving to the basket as much as he should.
Also Portland and Dallas got a lot of offensive rebounds. Our players, specially bigs, need to do a better job of blocking out.
I was at the portland game and got sick from watching those guys get multiple opportunities.

yes, i agree with u...the fact is, people point him out like he is always the one making horrible plays...but guesss what? i can name fisher, sasha, and even kobe made horrible plays too...but nope...lamar gets a !@#ing thread for his.
im gonna continue to defend lamar, or any other laker on this board...and some people will tell u...when b-scott kept saying kobe should have givin to odom, or kobe doesnt help odom blah blah...but i told scott that i disagreed with him and someone couldnt believe it cause ive seem more of a lamar homer..my point is...we won the game, lamar made as many mistakes as anyone else on this team..and that someone should get a thread that they know nothing of..
