Rotating past the AA3: Today, Des Mase

I think we can all agree: Mo and Redd, good enough scorers that even with their nonexistent defense they are still above average players. Bogut, barely average offensively and the only one who brings defense on any kind of regular basis. Different salaries, and the only three above average players on the roster. We know beyond those 3's flaws, the bench has been killing us most nights along with pretty much the other two spots on the floor.

So this is just a chance to look around, and since there are no other average players on the roster right now we can pick on everyone else in order beyond the 3 who actually deserve it least in spite of all their problems. And point out the good if it might be deserved.

Surprisingly there've been a couple games where Des has seemed to be a big contributor. In general the clanks aren't worth the dunks and it'd be great if he didn't have to play 30 minutes like he did in January. But on this roster he's on the upper end on defense too.

Maybe this is unnecessary because he's not on the rise of his career and there's less speculation to debate. Maybe it'll be an okay change of pace.

His FG% and blocks are the highest of his career by a pretty good margin. FT% is the lowest. Minutes and points are lowest since his rookie year. Turnovers are around his lowest. And the last couple of months he's been rebounding better than since his one-year "rebounding prime" in 02-03. Feel free to chop it up.
