Hiding Severe Injuries: Yao & Others...

Post#1 » by CuttingEdge » Mon Mar 3, 2008 5:02 pm

Is it safe to say once guy gets it going a certain way then all of sudden retrogresses he's hiding a severe injury?

Yao's done it again. Some injuries you can play through but when it comes to weight-bearing components it's gonna be too much to cope with or not be able to hustle as much which makes for a lackluster effort every night. The man's played with a bleeding ingrown toenail, tried to hide it because he didn't understand the terms of his contract and wanted a check to come in and not disappoint. He's broken his foot before then there was that incident where his lower leg snapped. This time around he's on a good team and using experience and skill beared the pain while at most times concealing it with good performances until he could no longer.

There's probably a couple people out there, namely Kobe, doing the same thing. With Kobe, he can still play because of it being just his pinky but in a long run it's going to probably end up a severe deformity requiring more extensive surgery to repair and possible throughing off Kobe's shot and handles for awhile.

I doubt yao would ever hide anything... he just doesnt know any better, he complained about his ankle that night against chicago and it checked out fyne, doctors did an X-ray that checked out fine, then he kept complaining and the doctors did an MRI that checked out fine, he complained again and they performed a CT scan that showed the stress fracture. If it was bonzi who pulled this then i would not be surprised but since its the hardest worked on our team ( let alone the entire league) i will not question the timing of his injury. Like you said, kobe's injury is not that severe because he just put up 50+ points against the mav's.
