Blazers rebounding makes baby jesus cry
After watching a few replays of the recent games, it's clear that Joel is the only rebounder on the team and the only thing that Lamarcus should be working on in the offseason is rebounding. The small worry that I do have is during the couple of SL games with Oden we were getting absolutely killed on the boards.
The guards also need to step it up, the amount of times I see a body not get checked, the long rebounds get snatched up is horrible.
A couple of offseason targets i'd like to see us go after a rebounding beast like Milsap who crashes the boards hard and brings energy. Bring in a SF who can rebound and shoot the lights out like Mike Miller.

Not to worry. If you recall, he could barely breathe.

Here are a couple guys I think could help us fix this problem:
Nick Collison: Averaging about 10 points and 8 boards over the last 2 seasons. I'm not exactly sure how Seattle management values him or whether they consider him part of their future, but if they plan on dumping everyone not named durant or green, then he's worth a shot.
Tyler Hansbrough: He's only a junior and all indications right now point to him staying at UNC. If he were to enter the draft however, he'd probably fall somewhere in the rang of our pick(late lotto/early non-lotto). I love the way this kid plays. Great on the boards, good hustle, can score if needed, shows a great passion for the game. Would be a great complement to Oden and LMA.
Jeff Foster: I've always liked this guy. I consider him one of the truest blue collar big men in the league. Tough, physical big man with playoff experience. Solid on the boards. Would be a big asset to have when the playoffs come around.

collison would definitely be sweet, wonder what his relationship was like with nate.
Jeff foster would also be good, I think he would kind of be a duplicate to przybilla.

I actually think Frye is a solid rebounder. He really crashes the boards well. However, he doesnt have the other skills Aldridge has. We need to hope Aldridge can improve his rebounding this summer. I dont really think it is a function of more muscle for him, just a mindset of crashing the boards getting at least 10 per night

on the wish for another rebounder besides Oden:
just who is 'removed' from the frontline rotation to make it feasible??
Oden and Joel will lock up all the time at C. LMA may play a little there but he'll likely get 32-35 minutes at PF. Then Travis will likely get the remaining time there and still bump out Jones and Webster some at SF.
I don't see how getting "rebounder/banger" is going to do any good unless at least one of travis/webster/jones is moved, along with Frye.
Who goes to make room for the banger?

Well, seeing how Nate prffers to play Przy as few as possible ('till he realized he's the only center on our current roster who can defend the rim), my guess is that as long as Oden will be healthy and out of foul trouble, Przy would get 10 MPG or less.
Frye needs to be moved, that's true. I dont think his PT and stock will imrpove next season, unless LMA is injured for an extended period of time.
The ideal situation is Oden playing 34 MPG at center, with LMA or Outlaw at PF next to him. Since the NBA is getting smaller and Przy doesn't contribute much on offense, I think that LMA should get the remaining 14 MPG at center. But since he doesn't rebound well enough, and both Frye and Outlaw do not complement him too well on both sides of the floor, I think that our 4th bigman should be a bruising PF, and the upcoming draft should be filled with them, so someone should be available at the 2nd round - Hendrix, Dorsey, Hansbrough...or Foster, especially via a 3-way trade that brings JO to the Bulls, Hinrich and Foster to us...

I like Nick Collison but I doubt we can get him. His contract means Blazers have to put a big contract in the trade so that means Joel or Miles. Collison is a much better player than either Joel or Miles. So, the obvious question is why would Sonics take Joel or Miles and give up Collison. Blazers would have to give up something of very high value to make the trade happen.

Here is a trade that works under the CBA after July 1, 2008.
Martell Webster
Joel Przybilla
2009 1st round pick
>>for
Nick Collison
Donyell Marshall
This would be a great trade for the Blazers but I don't know if Sonics get enough. Collison is the best player in the trade but Sonics save substantial money while getting a 1st round pick and a young prospect that would be a nice complement to playmakers like Durant and Green.

No, he isn't. Joel doesn't score as much (he's a better percentage shooter shooting very similar sorts of shots), but he rebounds better and blocks shots. Collison and Joel probably have equal abilities, but Joel's being a full four inches taller and with his ability to change the game defensively (Collison is a marginally good defender, but he's hardly a shot alterer) Joel is more valuable than Collison is in a trade.

Hmm, it would be great if Sonics buy that BS.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. It would probably be a good idea to put some lottery protection on the pick, maybe top 4 protected. Hopefully the lottery protection isn't necessary but caution is always good.

Well, you totally disregard Webster in your reply, which kinda explains to me why you dont find this trade overpaying on our behalf.
