Where did that come from? Hughes wasn't even playing when we went against the Spurs. He was injured. I don't think that had anything to do with how he approaches basketball. It has everything to do with his fragile frame. Your comment actually is totally out of the blue.

cause he isn't a catch and shoot player.
It was Lebron that could not play with Hughes. Hughes is a guard that needs the ball to be effective. You are right, Hughes is a slasher and not a catch and shoot player. Neither players knows how to play without the basketball, a la Rip Hamilton. They just stay on the perimeter waiting for the ball, to either cut or take a player off of dribble penetration. Larry worked best with Arenas and when he wasn't the point guard with Iverson and he was a KEY reason why the Cavaliers beat the Pistons, for his supurb defense on Chauncey Billups. Lebron couldn't optimize Hughes; and vice versa. It's evidence in their field goal percentages. It's why Lebron plays great with or without Hughes; and vice versa.
In regard to who makes players around them better, I think Lebron is overrated.

what's the number one statement you hear for career guidance counselor when you were growing up? you have to enjoy what you do when you're picking a career or its gonna eat at you. that's basically what hughes said, he's basically saying he wants to enjoy his job. he never said he didn't want to win. saying you care more about your wife than your best friend does not equal you saying you could care less about your best friend.

What he said was he'd rather be on a team that loses, but plays the way he prefers to play than play on a team that contends for championships if it means he has to play the way that best helps that team wins.
basically that his joy in playing basketball doesn't come from winning, it comes from shooting. He's saying that sunday he was happy with the game because he got his 23 points on 20 shots, nevermind his team lost and had their playoff chances diminish further.
I'm not complaining about Larry being honest, I've also not been one to question his effort in cleveland. Quite the opposite, I have always been one to point out all of the ways he contributed to our success despite the seemingly diminished production here.
I just find it a bit shocking that an NBA player would be happier losing in a system he likes than contending for championships in a system that wins.

As a Pistons fan, we get a kick out of chicagos douche bag players. They're like Britney Spears of the NBA and the knicks are Paris Hilton.
at the very laest the wiz will resign him, noway hes outta the league

this is not anything new. as a matter of fact, not news at all.
tons of football, basketball, baseball players etc.. are in it for the money. throw in the travel etc... and its just a game.
some of those guys actually luck onto a team that wins it all.
but thats the difference between those types of guys, and superstars. the birds, magics, jordans etc...
they only want to win. there is no greater high or drug than the game itself. they truly and passionately love the game. and championships are all that matters.
while the vast majority just wanna have fun.

I don't agree. There are 3 categories of players IMO
people who do it for the money
*these people usually have great skill or potential, but don't actually like basketball just the contract.
*examples such as Eddy Curry, Tim Thomas, etc... Tim Thomas might honestly be the most talented player in the league, but he just doesn't care.
people who like basketball but want to have fun.
*enjoy the game
*not so worried about being elite just want to have fun
*examples larry hughes, jamal crawford, jamison, Vince Carter now (earlier in his career he cared a lot more about winning and would be in the last group), Iggy, Nate Robinson, Ben Gordon, etc...
people who want to win at all costs
*game is not fun unless you are winning
*examples Jason Kidd, Kobe Bryant, Shaq, old Vince Carter, old TMac, Billups, etc...
what i am trying to show, is there is s adifference from someone who just sees a paycheck and someone who sees the game of basketball.

I dunno. I can't really criticize him for his outlook, because honestly when I played basketball in school I enjoyed the games where I scored 18 points and we lost more than the games where I didn't score and we won.
However, I do think he's dumb for saying that. If I'm a GM I don't want to give a contract to guy with that perspective towards basketball, and as a fan you don't want him on your team.
