He should be suspsended. When he reached down to "try to get the ball" he got part of AK. Any idiot should be able to realize that they got part of the man and not the ball, so there is no doubt in my mind that Dirk knew for that split second he hit AK. Right there, he should have realized he was holding AK (rather than the ball), and shouldn't have pulled down on him.
EDIT: But just fwiw, I wouldn't suspend him, but like Corona said, based on the NBA's standards now it should be a suspension. Back in my years as a wee little kid, I would cheer when Charles Oakley gave hard fouls with the Knicks, but after seeing what people get suspended for nowadays, it's only fair to suspend Dirk.
