Best Japanese downtown? I'm looking for a place to go once or twice a week that has good lunch options within walking distance from the ESA. I'm really looking for some good Japanese curry dishes, esp. chicken katsu curry..

All the Japanese places I know, besides Benihana, are sushi bars.

You know I've never really had the desire to eat at a sit down Greek place. I don't know though I love Greek Souvlaki and Yanni's. They may be faster then a restaurant, but the food is still very good.

Italian Village and Robintino's are always good. But like I said before I dont really think there are great traditional Italian places in UT, outside of your mainstream places.

I forgot to add Blue Plate Diner, I love that place. Great breakfast and cool diner atmosphere.

Im surprised nobody has mentioned Cafe Rio. Its probably my favorite all around place to eat. Also if youre in the mood for good sushi, Kyoto can't be beat.

Who the hell suggested that? LOL

The only reason I ever eat there is because there's one about 5 minutes from my house. It's easy and cheap. Good doesn't really enter into the equation.

For Chinese, I'm particular to good old greasy american-style Chinese food. Kuong Jou was good before it closed as was the Ding Ho when it was downtown.

I also love the Teriyaki chicken at Edo in most of the malls.

The last couple places I went to for the first time that I was pleasantly surprised is the Himilayan Kitchen... it's kind of a fusion between Indian Curry and Nepalese. I also went to Cafe Molise. It was a good..not great..but good Italian. A good step up from Romano's Mac Grill.

I'm still looking for a good Chinese restaraunt. Cafe Trang sucks.

Also, my favorite Vietnamese place on 35th and Redwood is gone.

What about Thai? Anyone have recommendations?

There is a Thai place on South Temple and about 8th South called Sawadee. It is pretty good and inexpensive.

Agreed Cafe Rio is hugely overrated. I like it, but not enough to deal with standing in line for 20 min.

Best sushi I've had so far in SLC is probably Takashi at 18 W Market St.

It's right in between the melting pot and market street. Melthing pot isn't bad but way too expensive I think.

Speaking of expensive, if you are feeling rich, you can go eat at metropolitan at 173 w. broadway. It's pretty good food, but definitely on the expensive side.

They have a Sawadee here? Cool. There were a couple in Minneapolis that I used to go to.

It's a little known fact that North, South and West Temple are all dimensional portals.

The Pie is a great pizza place, but if you want authentic awesome italian pizza you have to choose Settebello. It is just southeast of Energy Solutions. We eat there every time we go to the game. Great Great Pizza.

There's a place that I think is Japanese but it could be Chineses not sure which just good food.
If you like sweet meals this is a place to try is called JoyLuck, I go to the one on about 107th south and state. Try the sweat meals, very good for the sugar tooth.

My 5 year old loves the hot chocolate, they put tons of whip cream on top yummm.
Go ReAL!
