I am not sure if we will even make the WCF let alone the NBA Finals. The West is going to be a dogfight and every single round will probably go at least 6 games. If we are lucky enough to get to the finals, we will probably be very exhausted against a fresh Celtics team as the ECF will be their only challenge. I have no idea why people keep picking us to win the title, its almost setting us up for a big dissapointment.

Do you watch the Pistons? That's going to be a real challenge for that Celtics team. People talk about physical play in playoffs and it doesn't get any better than the Detroit Pistons.

REBOUNDING!!! TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS, YOU MUST REBOUND AND DEFEND. During the Win Streak, we haven't played a team as Physical as Boston, Detroit, and San Antonio. I think that's why we lost to Portland...their size made all the difference with rebounding. We have been tired too....but that's not the point
u make good points butttt
the game right before the streak and without bynum or gasol on january 29th vs detroit, lakers only lost by 1 @ detroit
and we lost to portland becuz they just had to lose sooner or later and considering they beat portland 3 days ealier by 13
also during the streak played and beat toronto and the magic who both have 2 of the top 5 to 7 big men in the game who r both great rebounders amd scorers

I think what she is talking about is having 3 7 game series in the West versus 1 in the East.j-far wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

on the other hand if we are lucky enough to make it to the finals, we will be pretty well battle tested and in turn better prepared, although tired.

You guys underrate the Pistons bigtime. IMO i don't see the Celtics beating Detroit in the playoffs. The Pistons have too much Chemistry and toughness to lose in 7 games vs Boston plus Doc Rivers is an awful coach and will be exposed in the playoffs. However the Cavs may be Detroits one weak spot. If the Cavs knock off Detroit then yes Boston will make it to the NBA finals. I think this years playoffs will be awesome, i really want my Spurs to play the Lakers at some point just so there's no crying by either team of "well they didn't play Spurs/Lakers so there should be an asterix" which i know always gets thrown around.

i think the points u made out were legit.
some people are going far too ahead of themselves saying the lakers will make the finals, or even be champions.
every team in the west is beatable...but the spurs are no joke, and neither are the mavs and jazz for that matter.
odom will step up more in the playoffs, but i think gasol is at his peak right now. this is probably the most he can do..22/8/3/1block is his best...which is awesome if u ask me...however, we will definately need bynum back..
without bynum, we're pretty weak in the middle. cuz odom's and especially gasol's defense isnt too great...just average at best.

Yeah, but after Bosh, what other big man can cause problems to the laker squad. What Depth do they have?
Same goes for D-Howard in Orlando, What other big men do they have? B-Cook? who else?
Celtics: Perkins, Garnett, Pj Brown, Big Baby
Pistons: Walllace, Maxiell (probably spelled wrong), Dale Davis, Amir Johnson
My point: those teams have depth
On the active list for our team: we have Gasol, Odom, and Turiaf...that's it

how about flip saunders? He'll be exposed in the playoffs again. He's the reason i dont see them getting to the finals.

Interesting points. I've always believed that the Lakers would be one of the best rebounding teams when Bynum comes back, and even if he somehow was out for the entire season the LAkers would become an average rebounding playoff team.
Nevertheless, even without Bynum I still think this Laker team is top 3 in the west.
