Lovehoops, you brought an interesting point saying Hedo would get trapped if he played the point all the time. And I'm also with you on this one and mixing it up would be better then constantly going to Hedo, BUT, wouldn't he have to be at least double teamed to be trapped and since Hedo is a great passer wouldn't that leave a 4 on 3 situation when Hedo passes the ball out of double teams ? Every negative has a positive IMO, when he gets trapped pass it to an open Shard for the 3 or attack the paint which leaves a man open with Hedo getting the traps. I think we've seen some of that in games where he gets trapped, the Boston, Detroit games came to mind, he would get the double even triple double from Pierce, Allen, Posey or Prince,Billups and Hamilton, which lead to a lot of passes to the open man.

A good pass out of a trap leads to a situation not unlike a fast break.

I think Hedo's ball skills can get him out of the trap, he just has to body up and not commit a charge.
Worse comes to worse, he does have 6 inches on a PG or 4 inches on an SG, and can pass out of a trap.

Plus, several teams have already trapped the Magic PG's so its not like they'd be doing something different.

How about a 6-10+ lineup?

PG - Turk
SG - Lewis
SF - Marcin
PF - Dwight
C - Foyle (to guard the basket and pickup fouls instead of Dwight)

Bringing the ball up the court can be done by committee.

It doesn't have to be the "Point".

Hedo wouldn't have that much trouble with traps.....he's 6'10, and you always look to first pass "over" the trap. Where there may be a problem is with penetration, especially from the guard positions.

Dwight and Hedo have a good thing going . That's my biggest reason for wanting the ball in Hedo's hands . He's the only ball handler we have that looks for Dwight on a consistent basis . This is something that would be huge in the playoffs against the Pistons . Let Hedo handle the ball and let Bogans or Evans guard Billups

This definitely works, and Hedo does do this sometimes now. But regardless, the guys bringing the ball upcourt do tend to get beat on more in the traps, and I would think that would wear on anyone. Hedo is doing a lot of ball handling as is, and what the Magic are doing is working pretty well.

1. hedo definitely will need another ball handler on the floor with him.
2. remember how the magic lost to kobes and the nets on the last possession.
3. in the game against the kobes, kobe defended hedo on the last possession and pulled a trick on him that made him lose the ball.
4. in the game against the nets, kidd defended hedo and made him drive into a wall of nets players which resulted in a broken play.
5. moral is let hedo handle the ball if an sf of equal quickness is guarding him.
6. otherwise, pass the ball to the said ball handler, go to the low post and take advantage of the size.
7. so, ok to hedo handling the ball as a point forward as long as these extra tweakings are in effect.
