Any chance this guy falls to #30?

He's been slipping down the mock draft over at nbadraft.net all season long. Could he drop as far as Big Baby did? He'd be a nice backup center for us moving forward.

hibbert will be a stud
there is no way we come away with him at #30

i cant see him sliding past 12, worst case scenario

7'2" guys from Georgetown usually don't fall to 30th. Some team will get him in the late lottery.

I don't think he'll be a stud by any means. He's not very athletic, coordinated or strong from what I've seen. He ust looks awkward out there on the court IMO.

Love how he can be a bust without being on a NBA team yet. Pretty foolish at this point don't you think?

Guys predict busts all the time why is this any different?

Personally I think he might be decent. Hes a brendan hayward type. He never looks very conditioned to me. If we got him that late it would be cool but I doubt it.

He reminds me of a poor rebounding Ilgauskas. Slow footed, decent offensive player, but poor rebounder for his size. He does look like he can be an NBA bust, but who knows? If he was a monster on the boards, he'd be a lock to be a good NBA player, imo, but I'm turned off by the biggest guy in college being a poor rebounder. He pulls down like 6 rpg, right? If he's doing much better than that, then I take back what I said about him, but every time I watch him play, he doesn't grab a lot of rebounds.

I think he's gonna be a decent player, not an all star, but a solid starting center. But he won't won't fall out of the lottery.

This is a guard-heavy draft. Hibbert will go in the lottery more than likely.

At this point I'd rather have Thabeet. He is the same size but just a way quicker player and a much better rebounder. I hope he stays another year at UCONN to get a little more experience but he's going to be a stud in the NBA.

i feel almost the exact opposite, as discussed ad nauseaum in the draft prospects thread...

There is no way either Hibbert or Thabeet fall beyong the lottery. As stated earlier this is a guard heavy draft and the 2 best centers will fall in the top 14.

That being said, a guy who could fall is Kevin Love. Love is a great rebounder, finisher around the hoop, great hustle guy, solid defender, and good outlet passer. NBA GM's tend to pass on guys who are undersized for their positions...particularly centers and shooting guards (too many examples to prove my point). The thing is a guy like Love can be a nice PF off someone's bench in this league. I'd go as far as trading up for the guy...I'd deal Leon Powe and our pick for Kevin Love.

The guy averages 6 rebounds per game against college centers, most of which are smaller than him. How's he going to fair against pros his size? He looks confused out there. Almost mechanical. I'm not sold on him. However, you can't teach size, so he's still going to make some decent coin.

It's really one of my pet peeves to call a guy a bust before you even know where he's playing. Heck even in the first couple of seasons sometimes it is unfair to call a guy a bust.

As for getting him late, it won't happen.

Hibbert is very slow. Good skills and can shoot with a nice touch. Can be a high post passer and can probablyhit that 18 footer.

I really really worry about his lateral quickness. I also don't like his lack of physical play. Should be a better rebounder.

On pure physical ability, I would take Thabeet though the risk is much higher that he doesn't pan out.

Hibbert reminds me a little of "NBA Legend" (remember those commercials) Daniel Santiago. They both have some really nice post moves but they are both extremely slow and mechanical. I can't see Hibbert being much more than serviceable in the NBA. I wouldn't even be surprised if he's over in Europe within 5 years. I can't see it working out for a team that takes him in the lottery. Better to roll the dice that Love or maybe even Hansbrough will be able to overcome their lack of NBA size.

Also, neither Hibbert nor Thabeet are among the top 2 centers in this draft. The consensus top 2 centers are Brook Lopez out of Stanford and DeAndre Jordan out of Texas A&M. I suppose either of them could stay another year but if they come out, both will go higher than Hibbert and Thabeet.

Kevin Love is a starting caliber PF in the NBA and probably will be a star in time...he's Carlos Boozer's white cousin....but he'll be a lotto pick for sure when he comes out and the anchor of a team's post game...

Forget a seven footer unless we trade up which is less likely. If you want a good big guy at #30, find another Glen Davis, Leon Powe, Ryan Gomes or Craig Smith. If not, I would leave that judgement to Ainge.
